Material Control Lab Technician – 2nd shift (Onsite)

What You Will Do

  • Perform evaluations of major rotating hardware for various manufacturing special processes.
  • Be responsible for sample preparation, evaluation, disposition, and quality documentation of materials and processes.
  • Interpret blueprints, specifications, procedures, and laboratory manuals to assess what testing is required and conformance to requirements.
  • Perform metallographic evaluation and documentation of various special manufacturing processes, primarily heat treating and plasma spray coatings.
  • Regularly interact with Production Operations personnel and other Engineering disciplines to address metallurgical issues and develop effective root cause and corrective actions for manufacturing-related issues.
  • Contribute as an effective team member, utilizing CORE tools and promoting continuous improvement to maintain EH&S and operational requirements for a safe and productive work environment.
  • Provide clear, concise, and accurate lab reports.
  • Maintain records and retain prepared samples according to procedure.
  • Monitor testing frequency of all processes.
  • Develop evaluation sheets for all tested parts.
  • Investigate various parts and process-related problems.
  • Be available for travel for training purposes and occasional off-shift coverage needs based on business requirements.

Qualifications You Must Have

  • A High School Diploma/GED or equivalent and minimum 4 or more years of relevant experience, or an Associate's degree (or other 2-year post high school training) with a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Proficiency in the use of hand tools and test equipment.

Qualifications We Prefer

  • Prior experience in the area of metallurgical testing, evaluation, and documentation.
  • Quality and/or manufacturing, material background.
  • Familiarity with microscope evaluation techniques including brightfield, darkfield, and polarized light microscopy.
  • Knowledge of aerospace manufacturing operations.
  • Knowledge and experience with root cause investigations, corrective actions, and problem-solving.
