Material Associates: Plant - 12-hour Day Shift

About the Role

The Materials Associate is responsible for performing receiving, shipping, and storage functions in support of production operations according to established procedures. This role requires safely moving materials to and from material storage, shipping, receiving, and production areas with accurate and timely reporting of all material relocations.

Responsibilities

• Load and unload materials; receive materials into the Company system and verify against Pack Lists to ensure accuracy.
• Count and weigh parts to check quantity accuracy; contact the buying team to rectify discrepancies.
• Pick parts for shipment and packaging according to shipping procedures.
• Use material moving equipment such as pallet jacks, forklifts, order-pickers, and dollies to transport products and materials.
• Issue materials to departments upon request, transacting inventory quantities and delivering parts to work areas.
• Monitor inventory and report discrepancies to the team leader.
• Perform stock replenishment, rotation, and combining; assist with Cycle Counting.
• Transfer parts between bin locations using the Company Operation System and prepare parts for shipping.
• Adhere to health, safety, and environmental policies.
• Safely operate all certified equipment.
• Follow work instructions (written or oral) to execute material flow requirements.
• Manually load and unload materials onto or from pallets, trays, racks, baskets, and shelves.
• Accurately and timely enter materials transactional information into SAP and other systems.
• Perform inventory transactions during shipping to remove stock.
• Read electronic and manual bills of materials, pull sheets, and pick sheets to retrieve and deliver necessary materials.
• Support 5S/Housekeeping activities as required.
• Use deviation areas and hold tags to process defective parts through nonconforming material procedures.
• Load/unload materials into trailers adhering to Dock Safety Protocol.
• Meet physical logistics KPIs, Associate Engagement, and Teamwork standards.
• Adhere to FIFO standards throughout all storage areas and material flow points.
• Wear all required PPE and follow box-cutting safety protocols.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Stand for extended periods, including during operation of stand-up lifts.
• Lift shoulder-high up to 35 lbs repetitively.
• Step up and down from lifts; walk long distances over extended periods.
• Work in a fast-paced environment.
• Work in a non-climate-controlled environment.
• Perform moderate to high degrees of standing, walking, stooping, kneeling, close eye work, reaching, pulling, or pushing.
• Wear personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Occasional work from heights.
• Operate, maneuver, navigate, or drive vehicles or mechanized equipment (e.g., forklifts, industrial trucks).
• Good hand dexterity, hearing, and vision; ability to distinguish color.
• Punctual attendance; flexibility to work overtime and holidays as needed.

Qualifications

• High School diploma/GED or basic skills assessment required.
• 6 months of experience in a fast-paced industrial lean environment.
• Strong mechanical aptitude preferred.
• 1 year of material handling experience in a distribution environment preferred.
• Prior experience with RF scanning.
• 1 year of experience as a certified equipment/forklift operator in a distribution environment (active license preferred).
• Ability to read, write, and differentiate numbers.
