Master Scheduler

About the role

The Master Production Scheduler will determine and set daily, weekly, and monthly manufacturing schedules by examining customer orders, available staff, inventory, and machinery capabilities. This role involves monitoring manufacturing performance and adjusting schedules in response to equipment failures or supply shortages. The scheduler also identifies opportunities to improve process efficiency and reduce production costs through effective scheduling. Responsibilities cover the Glass, Insulated Glass, Door, and Frame departments across all production facilities.

Responsibilities

• Creates master production schedule in partnership with sales, supply chain, and operations.
• Accountable for and reports on key metrics, including on-time delivery, quality, and production efficiency.
• Establishes priorities for specific customer orders.
• Revises schedule according to work order specifications, established priorities, and availability or capability of workers, parts, material, machines, and equipment.
• Manages SIOP (Sales, Inventory, and Operations Planning) process and resolves related issues.
• Optimizes and schedules identical processes to eliminate duplicate machine setups.
• Identifies problems to improve efficiency and ensures company deadlines are met.
• Distributes work orders to departments, denoting number, type, and proposed completion date of units to be produced.
• Communicates with department supervisors to determine progress of work and provides information on changes in processing methods.
• Compiles reports concerning progress of work and downtime due to failures of machines and equipment to apprise production planning personnel of delays.
• Maintains inventory of materials and parts needed to complete production.
• Expedites production of spare parts and establishes delivery dates for spare parts orders.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Engineering, or Business Management, or related experience.
• 2-4 years of Supply Chain/Production Scheduling experience.
• LEAN and Continuous Improvement experience, specifically value-stream and process mapping.
• Experience reviewing reports and using data to make informed production decisions.

• Ability to use software to create routine reports, schedules, and correspondence.
• Proven process enhancement skills.
• Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees.
• Ability to collaborate in a team to balance schedules, inventory availability, and delivery dates.
• Ability to adapt and respond to issues like material shortages, equipment failures, or changes to customer orders.
