Master Scheduler

About the role

At Leatherman Tool Group, we build products people depend on—and behind every product we make is a supply plan that brings together customer demand, materials, people, equipment, inventory, and manufacturing capacity. We’re looking for an experienced Master Scheduler who can bring those pieces together.

In this highly collaborative role, you’ll own Leatherman’s Master Production Schedule (MPS) and forward-looking supply plan, translating demand and operational constraints into a realistic, capacity-validated plan for our manufacturing operation in Portland, Oregon. This isn’t simply a role that maintains a schedule. We’re looking for someone who can analyze, challenge, model scenarios, influence decisions, and continuously improve how we plan.

What You’ll Do

• Own the MPS across our planning horizon and work closely with teams throughout Leatherman to ensure our plan is realistic, achievable, and aligned with business priorities.
• Develop and maintain the Master Production Schedule based on forecasted demand, inventory targets, customer requirements, and manufacturing capabilities.
• Own Rough Cut Capacity Planning (RCCP) and evaluate capacity, material, supplier, inventory, and operational constraints.
• Lead the monthly Supply Feasibility Review and pressure-test proposed production plans.
• Develop supply scenarios and clearly communicate business tradeoffs, risks, and recommendations.
• Evaluate MPS change requests while protecting schedule stability and customer-service objectives.
• Recommend solutions including overtime, prebuilding, alternate routings, outsourcing, expediting, inventory strategies, and demand movement.
• Partner across Demand Planning, Production Scheduling, Manufacturing, Sourcing, Logistics, Engineering, Sales, and other functions.
• Monitor finished-goods inventory, production requirements, customer-service risks, and plan performance.
• Develop and monitor planning KPIs, including MPS attainment, forecast accuracy, and capacity utilization.
• Improve master-scheduling methodologies, planning policies, ERP capabilities, and data quality.
• Develop and apply AI-enabled tools to accelerate planning analysis, reporting, and automation.
• Serve as a subject-matter expert and trusted planning partner throughout the organization.

What You’ll Bring

We’re looking for an experienced manufacturing planner who combines technical planning expertise, strong analytical ability, sound business judgment, and excellent communication skills. Our ideal candidate brings:

• A bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Accounting, Statistics, or a combination of relevant education and experience.
• 6+ years of planning experience in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
• Strong knowledge of master production scheduling, capacity planning, inventory management, and manufacturing operations.
• Demonstrated ability to evaluate tradeoffs and make sound planning recommendations when information is incomplete or priorities compete.
• Strong cross-functional communication and influencing skills.
• Expertise using advanced planning/scheduling software and ERP systems.
• Advanced Excel and data-analysis skills.
• Experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 F&O preferred.
• Experience developing or applying AI-enabled tools to planning, reporting, or analysis.
• ASCM CPIM or CSCP certification strongly preferred.
• Microsoft Dynamics 365 ERP Fundamentals certification is a plus.
