About the Role

The Master Production Scheduler will determine and set daily, weekly, and monthly manufacturing schedules by examining customer orders, available staff and inventory, and machinery capabilities. This role monitors manufacturing performance, adjusts schedules in response to equipment failures or supply shortages, and identifies opportunities to improve process efficiency and reduce production costs. The scheduler is responsible for production in the Glass, Insulated Glass, Door, and Frame departments across all production facilities.

Responsibilities

  • Creates master production schedule in partnership with sales, supply chain, and operations.
  • Is accountable for and reports on key metrics, including on-time delivery, quality, and production efficiency.
  • Establishes priorities for specific customer orders.
  • Revises schedule according to work order specifications, established priorities, and availability of workers, parts, material, machines, and equipment.
  • Manages SIOP process and resolves related issues.
  • Optimizes and schedules identical processes to eliminate duplicate machine setups.
  • Identifies problems to improve efficiency and ensures company deadlines are met.
  • Distributes work orders to departments, denoting number, type, and proposed completion date of units to be produced.
  • Communicates with department supervisors to determine progress of work and provide information on changes in processing methods.
  • Compiles reports concerning progress of work and downtime due to machine or equipment failures to apprise production planning personnel of delays.
  • Maintains inventory of materials and parts needed to complete production.
  • Expedites production of spare parts and establishes delivery dates for spare parts orders.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Engineering, Business Management, or related experience.
  • 2–4 years of Supply Chain/Production Scheduling experience.
  • LEAN and Continuous Improvement experience, specifically value-stream and process mapping.
  • Strong organization, prioritization, and planning skills.
  • Ability to use software to create routine reports, schedules, and correspondence.
  • Experience reviewing reports and using data to make informed production decisions.
  • Proven process enhancement skills.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees.
  • Ability to collaborate in a team to balance schedules, inventory availability, and delivery dates.
  • Ability to adapt and respond to issues like material shortages, equipment failures, or changes to customer orders.
  • Ability to perform basic arithmetic (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division) in all units of measure, including whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
