Master Scheduler

About the role
As a Master Scheduler on the Sparta team, you will coordinate, plan, and schedule products throughout their production process. You will support the Production Control Manager, work independently under pressure, and communicate schedules effectively across manufacturing groups. This role involves problem-solving, optimizing production, and ensuring on-time delivery (OTD) performance of 95% or better.
Responsibilities
- Manage customer demand to maximize business performance and service levels.
- Develop a master production schedule based on customer and internal capacity considerations.
- Convert customer demand into daily/weekly production schedules for multiple departments.
- Communicate significant production changes to the Production Manager and Customer Service.
- Monitor compliance and performance of production departments against published schedules.
- Maintain all inputs to the planning system regularly.
- Optimize finished goods inventory levels, improve inventory turn rates, and reduce operating costs.
- Serve as a liaison to Customer Service, providing lead times and delivery information.
- Establish and evaluate scheduling priorities.
- Resolve supply, demand, and capacity issues while optimizing labor and equipment utilization.
- Perform capacity planning and coordinate output with all production areas.
- Assess and implement ERP techniques to plan, schedule, control, measure, and evaluate production operations.
- Communicate forecast and inventory estimations to the Management team.
- Monitor and report changes in customer forecasts.
- Maintain and update customer-related forecasts in ERP quarterly.
- Address demand-related issues promptly and effectively.
- Communicate production schedules to team leads promptly.
- Manage load leveling, bottleneck scheduling, and utilize the Theory of Constraints (TOC) for accurate scheduling.
- Ensure ERP system data elements related to planning are correctly set.
- Identify manufacturing variances weekly and report them to the Finance team.
- Align ERP production schedules with customer requirements.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in business management, operations management, or equivalent.
- Master Scheduler/Production Planner experience.
- Solid experience within manufacturing and scheduling.
- Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office programs.
- Strong computer skills and proficiency in ERP systems.
