Responsibilities
- Develop the master schedule to meet external customer delivery requirements and internal revenue targets.
- Review sales inquiries/orders to determine schedules and commit ship dates based on lead-times, capacity, and material availability.
- Advise management on the status of work in progress, material availability, and potential production problems to ensure on-time delivery.
- Oversee the release of in-process component and assembly jobs and identify obstacles preventing timely releases.
- Provide completion dates for components and assemblies as required.
- Review forecast changes with Sales and Business Unit Managers, advising the VP of Operations on adjustments, capacity issues, and shortages.
- Consult with Manufacturing Engineers and Production Managers to identify opportunities, problems, and bottlenecks.
- Confer with Production Managers, Cell Leaders, Buyers/Planners, and other support functions to prioritize and expedite parts and track progress.
- Review Engineering Change Notices (ECN) to ensure components and assemblies are updated per current work instructions.
- Participate in and contribute order status to production review meetings.
- Compile reports on shop order progress, sales orders, and production problems.
- Provide information and assistance to Manufacturing, Engineering, Supply Chain, and Sales on Production Planning processes and procedures.
- Review and update planning work instructions and policies related to the planning group.
- Provide training for new Planners and serve as backup, performing all planning tasks as needed.
- Offer core business system guidance for Planners and assist in day-to-day activities.
Requirements
- A four-year degree is required; Business or Industrial/Manufacturing Engineering is preferred.
- 3-5 years of progressive experience in manufacturing, production planning, master scheduling, or shop scheduling in a job shop, make-to-order, and/or machining environment.
- Thorough knowledge of production planning principles, procedures, and manufacturing processes.
- Must be detail-oriented with excellent analytical and critical thinking skills.
- Strong organizational, verbal, written, and interpersonal skills; ability to work with all levels of personnel in a team environment.
- Must be able to work with ITAR products and related data without restriction.
Skills
- Computer literate, especially in Excel, with strong, comprehensive knowledge of MRP.
- Experience with EXACT MAX ERP system is preferred.
- Ability to prepare written documents such as status reports, forms, memos, and letters.
- Strong mathematical comprehension is mandatory.
Physical Requirements
- Required lifting weight: 35 lbs (rarely).
- Sitting, standing, reaching, bending, and moving for long periods of time.
- Ability to work in a manufacturing environment.

- Indoors in environmentally controlled conditions.
- Requires wearing common protective or safety equipment.
- Exposure to distracting or uncomfortable sounds and noise levels.
- Repetitive movement and extended periods of sitting.
