About the role
Performs electrical maintenance and service work. Installs or repairs lamps and fixtures, power outlets, and switches. Maintains and repairs air conditioning units.
Responsibilities
- Installs conduits, wires, pull boxes, switchboards, controllers, and switches required in making additions, extensions, or alterations in electrical systems.
- Tests, locates, and repairs trouble in electrical circuits and equipment; repairs and replaces defective parts in motors, generators, storage batteries, switchboards, controllers, contractors, switches, and other fixtures and appliances.
- Maintains a stock of selected electrical supplies; prepares reports and maintains records.
- Serves as a resource for individuals responsible for appliance, bulb, ballast, and light fixture repair.
- Will be required to drive a City vehicle for City business use.
- Performs related work as required.
Requirements
- Knowledge of modern office procedures and methods including computers and applicable software.
- Knowledge of English grammar, spelling, and punctuation.
- Knowledge of national electrical codes.
- Knowledge of installation of emergency back-up generators.
- Knowledge of the standard practices, methods, tools, and materials of the electrical trade.

Qualifications
- A high school diploma or GED.
- At least five (5) years of responsible electrical work experience.
