Master Electrician - 1st Shift (Sign-On Bonus!)
Your Opportunity
The position summary states the general nature and purpose of the job. Overall accountabilities are defined in this section. We are looking for a skilled Master Electrician to join our maintenance team meat packaging facility. You will be responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient operation of the plant's electrical systems, equipment, and machinery.
What You’ll Do
- Installs, services and repair lightning fixtures, electrical panels, outlets and wiring.
- Operates power and hand tools and other specialized electrical equipment.
- Services and repair specialized electrical equipment.
- Constructs and maintains service equipment.
- Reads electrical circuits diagrams.
- Requisitions materials and supplies from stockroom and recommend purchases and supplies.
- Transfers primary power from one power source to another.
- Installs conductors, splices cables, builds terminations and does necessary hook up for primary power lines.
- Performs work required for the repair, maintenance, installation, and modernization of electrical systems for buildings, equipment and grounds.
- Performs work of a skilled variety demanding a high degree of manual and technical competency.
- Locates and determines electrical malfunctions using test equipment.
- Repairs malfunctions by such methods as replacing burned out elements, fuses, and replacing defective wiring, cleaning and repairing motors.
- Tests electrical equipment, such as motors, heaters, and controls for safety and efficiency, using standard test equipment and by observing functions.
- Inspects circuits for specified shielding and grounding.
- Performs other duties as required by manager and/or supervisor.

Must have a high school diploma or equivalent. Must have a Master Electrician Certification with the State of Minnesota. Prefer BS degree with 3 + years of relevant experience and experience working in the food industry. Must be able to read and write fluently in English to communicate and understand technical/ training manuals written in English. Possess the ability to function effectively in a team environment and interact productively with all levels of team personnel and outside contractors. Ability to operate a forklift, genie lift or scissor lift preferred. Ability to be obtain Lockout/Tagout and Hazmat certification and be trained in Confined Space procedures. Employee is required to stand, sit, walk, push, pull, climb, reach overhead and bend to the floor. Must be able to lift up to 100 pounds occasionally. The employee is subject to production environment. High noise level from operating machines. Physical hazards from moving equipment and machine parts. Skin exposure to animal fat, grease, and chemicals. Heat, cold and occasionally wet conditions. Displays sound judgment, organizational skills, and the ability to work independently with little supervision. Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.
