Job Summary / Purpose

Ohio Truck Sales is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Master Diesel Mechanic to join our team. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining heavy-duty diesel trucks and equipment. This individual should be self-motivated, detail-oriented, and committed to producing high-quality work while maintaining a safe and efficient work environment.

Key Responsibilities / Essential Job Functions

  • Diagnostics, troubleshooting, and repair of diesel engines, transmissions, drivetrains, electrical systems, air brake systems, suspension, steering, and hydraulic systems.
  • Demonstrate a strong understanding of diesel emission systems, including DEF (Diesel Exhaust Fluid), SCR, DPF, EGR, and related aftertreatment components to accurately diagnose and repair emission-related issues.
  • Perform preventative maintenance inspections and services.
  • Accurately identify mechanical and electrical issues using advanced diagnostic equipment.
  • Repair and replace defective components according to manufacturer specifications.
  • Complete work orders and document repairs accurately.
  • Perform road tests to verify repairs when necessary.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
  • Mentor and assist less experienced technicians as needed.
  • Follow all company safety policies and OSHA regulations.
  • Communicate effectively with service advisors, parts personnel, and management regarding repair status and recommendations.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Diesel technology certification preferred but not required.
  • Valid driver's license required with less than 5 points.
  • Class B CDL preferred. Candidates who do not currently possess a Class B CDL will be provided the opportunity to attend company-paid training to obtain one.
  • Ability to lift up to 75 pounds and work in varying shop conditions.

Experience

  • Minimum of 5 years of heavy-duty diesel repair experience preferred.
  • Must possess exceptional diagnostic and troubleshooting skills with the ability to accurately identify complex mechanical and electrical problems.
  • Strong diagnostic ability is essential for success in this role.
  • Proficient with electronic diagnostic software and OEM service information.
  • Welding and fabrication experience is a plus.
