Master Data Analyst
Job Overview
The Master Data Analyst is responsible for maintaining accurate and reliable material master data within SAP to support planning, purchasing, production, and inventory management. This role ensures system data aligns with actual operational capability, enabling stable planning signals and effective material flow. The position requires strong attention to detail, cross-functional coordination, and a proactive approach to identifying and correcting data gaps that drive shortages, excess inventory, or inaccurate schedules. This is an onsite position in Leeds, AL.
A Day In The Life
- Maintain and validate material master data including lead times, lot sizes, min/max levels, MRP parameters, procurement and planning settings.
- Ensure SAP system data reflects real-world supplier and production capabilities.
- Identify and correct inaccurate or outdated master data inputs.
- Audit data regularly to maintain alignment with operational performance.
- Support alignment between system planning signals (MRP, ATP, exception messages) and actual plant performance.
- Work with planning and purchasing teams to ensure data supports realistic schedules and priorities.
- Validate that demand, forecast consumption, and supply signals behave as intended.
- Troubleshoot system-driven issues causing shortages, delays, or excess inventory.
- Analyze material and system data to identify root causes of past due orders, material shortages, incorrect supply signals, and discrepancies between system data and shop floor execution.
- Partners with teams to implement corrections and prevent recurrence.
- Provide data-based recommendations to improve inventory and planning performance.
- Collaborate with Planning, Purchasing, Operations, and Engineering teams to ensure data integrity.
- Communicate data changes, impacts, and risks clearly across teams.
- Support resolution of material-related issues impacting production and shipment.
- Act as a key resource for system and data-driven troubleshooting.
- Identify systemic issues caused by poor or inconsistent master data.
- Recommend improvements to planning parameters and data standards.
- Develop and maintain standard work for master data governance.
- Support initiatives to improve data accuracy, planning stability, and material flow.

What Will Help You Thrive in This Role?
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, Data Analytics, Statistics, or related field.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret data and identify trends.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel; experience with data analysis, modeling, or visualization tools preferred.
- Experience working with data sets, including cleaning, analyzing, and drawing actionable insights.
- Strong attention to detail with a focus on data accuracy and system integrity.
- Ability to learn and understand ERP systems (SAP experience preferred but not required).
- Effective communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally with planning, purchasing, and operations teams.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and follow through on open items in a fast-paced environment.
- Internship, academic project, or entry-level experience in supply chain, data analysis, or operations preferred.
