Master AV / EV Technician / Travel Technician
Amerit Fleet Solutions, one of the leading fleet maintenance companies in the U.S., is looking to hire a skilled Vehicle Service Technician to repair, maintain, and retrofit our fleet of Electric Autonomous Vehicles (EV/AV). The ideal candidate is an experienced and eager technician with a growth mindset, looking to propel their career in a dynamic and cutting-edge industry. Our internal and external partners will guide you through three months of hands-on training to learn the vehicles and understand the business of fleet utilization.
About the role
This is a Travel Technician position requiring flexibility, as travel may be scheduled on short notice and can result in sudden changes to your work schedule. (Expected travel: 75-100%) Candidates should be comfortable adapting to shifting priorities and working in fast-paced, dynamic, and sometimes ambiguous environments.
Responsibilities
- Assist technician team with service and repair of electrical, mechanical, and integration issues on autonomous vehicles and their equipment
- Perform software and firmware updates
- Follow processes and document potential improvements and issues
- Collaborate with internal engineering and service teams to troubleshoot and diagnose issues
- Create repair orders, documenting work performed stating the diagnosis, procedure performed, and parts required
- Create issue tickets with engineering teams, following up with open issues to resolve
- Perform work with safety being top priority
- Participate in continuing education and training
- Assist with fleet-wide hardware and software retrofits
Requirements
- 4 - 8 years of experience working on cars (brakes, advanced suspension, alignment, electrical repair and diagnosis, software/firmware updates, diagnose nuanced mechanical, electrical, and A/C systems)
- Experience with complex hardware retrofits and AV hardware replacement, diagnostic on nuanced AV and EV systems
- Ability to work with hand tools, power tools, automotive shop equipment (e.g., impact guns, air tools, automotive lifts, floor jacks, etc.)
- Hands-on experience with mechanical, electrical, and software engineering components and an understanding of how they interact
- Strong computer skills, and strong aptitude to pick up new technology
- Impeccable communication skills
- A learning mindset including an open mind to constructive feedback
- A proven track record of emphasizing safety and quality of work
- Ability to give and receive clear and concise verbal and written directives
- Ability to perform regular physical work including, but not limited to, stooping, lifting, and moving up to 50 pounds
- Ability to anticipate future setbacks to mitigate operational progress and growth
- Able to juggle numerous projects simultaneously with ease
- Comfort in a dynamic and fast-paced work environment
- High attention to detail
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with sensors, calibration, and/or the autonomous automotive field
- Dealership training and automotive experience
- Experience with Linux, Java, Python, C++, Jira, Confluence, G-Suite, and Slack
- Previous experience diagnosing and performing repairs on electric and/or hybrid vehicles
- ASE certifications
Working Conditions
- Exposure to considerable amounts of dust, diesel fumes and noise
- Exposure to chemicals, oils, greases, or other irritants
- Access any area of the equipment or vehicle to perform necessary maintenance
- Ability to move and position heavy objects
- Ability to bend, stoop, crouch, kneel, and crawl to repair vehicles
- Ability to work outside in various weather conditions
Pay
$40.00 - $50.00/hour (based on experience), paid weekly every Friday.
Schedule
Monday - Friday (flexible with some weekend travel required).
