What You'll Help With
The Massage Therapist provides therapeutic massage as an adjunctive therapy to patients. As part of an inter-disciplinary healthcare team, the Massage Therapist:
- Provides therapeutic massage services based upon physician orders and patient assessment.
- Maintains patient safety by monitoring for effectiveness of therapy and adverse reactions.
- Applies knowledge of growth and development to appropriately care for patients.
- Monitors and maintains equipment and supplies used in therapeutic massage services.
- Maintains a safe work environment by reporting safety concerns.
- Educates patients, families, and others about therapeutic massage-related topics.
- Documents work activities through patient records and periodic reports.
- Promotes awareness of adjunctive massage therapy services through interactions with hospital staff, physicians, patients, family members, professional organizations, and community groups.
- Promotes personal and professional development through participation in educational activities and annual competency validation.
- Participates in performance improvement activities at various levels within the department, hospital, and Carilion Clinic.
What We Require
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Graduate of a state-approved massage therapy training program required.
- Current Massage Therapist license issued by the Commonwealth of Virginia required.
- Positive interpersonal and oral communication skills, effective written communication skills, ability to resolve complaints or problems, and ability and willingness to work as an integral member of a multi-skilled team.
- Courteous, customer-focused, and exhibits integrity.
Compensation
$50.00 per hour
