Massage Therapist

About the Role

This position contributes to the success of Castle Hot Springs Spa by providing a consistently memorable and relaxing spa experience for guests. You will deliver massage services using props and products, as well as perform general spa and hotel attendant duties.

Responsibilities

• Promote a warm, relaxed atmosphere for members and guests while anticipating their needs.
• Personalize each body treatment to accommodate individual guest needs.
• Use guest name recognition whenever possible and engage appropriately in conversation or presence.
• Follow established health and safety protocols to ensure consistent, excellent service.
• Demonstrate in-depth knowledge of spa services and products, and accurately describe and sell them.
• Educate guests on resort activities and facilities.
• Provide product prescription sheets for all body treatments.
• Maintain cleanliness, organization, and restocking of treatment rooms, work stations, storage areas, and guest-facing spaces.
• Assist in maintaining cleanliness throughout the spa and resort.
• Perform opening and closing duties as outlined in the massage therapist checklist.
• Maintain clear communication between treatment rooms and receptionists, providing accurate details about treatments.
• Review daily bookings for errors, double bookings, or special requests.
• Assist guests with rescheduling or canceling appointments as needed.
• Complete training in all Castle Hot Springs Spa body treatments within the first 90 days.
• Provide assistance in hot springs common areas, retail spaces, and other resort areas as needed.
• Ensure full service is performed on time, including timely guest pick-up and return to maintain schedule.
• Perform additional duties as assigned by the Spa Manager.

Requirements

• AZ Massage License.
• Five (5) years minimum experience.
• Certification in at least one of the following specialties offered at Castle Hot Springs Spa:
  • Deep Massage
  • Hot Stone Massage
  • Lymphatic Drainage
  • Shiatsu
  • Reflexology
  • Head and Scalp Massage
  • Table Thai Massage
  • WATSU (Provider or Practitioner)
  • Motherhood/Pre-Natal Massage
  • Esthetician License
• Ability to show initiative, anticipate needs, and meet deadlines.
• Strong problem-solving skills, including anticipating, preventing, identifying, and resolving workplace issues.
• Effective listening and communication skills to clarify guest and co-worker concerns.
• Ability to maintain a pleasant disposition and work smoothly in high-stress environments.
• Commitment to teamwork, positive working relationships, and flexibility with co-workers.
• Adherence to safety protocols and reporting of unsafe conditions.
• Professionalism, ethics, and a positive attitude toward guests and co-workers.
• Attendance at all scheduled meetings and training sessions.
• Accurate and regular recording of work time.
• Collaboration with other departments and assistance with additional hotel duties during downtime.

Preferred Qualifications

• At least 1,000 hours of certified training/education.
• Dual Therapist certification.
• Training or knowledge in Aromatherapy theory/philosophy.
• Experience in a resort spa environment.

Physical Demands

• Flexible and occasionally long hours may be required.
• Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 25 pounds frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or move objects.
• Ability to sit and/or stand continuously to perform essential job functions.
• Requires extending arms, bending, and stooping to reach materials.
• Hearing and visual ability to observe and detect signs of guests’ needs.
