Mason Elementary Head Custodian/Engineer

Summary Depending on the assigned location, the Engineer is responsible for carrying out engineering and/or maintenance duties, which may include lead Engineer designation. Carries out repairs and maintenance of the building and grounds, as well as operating mechanical equipment. Key Responsibilities And Duties Complete charge and responsibility of heating, ventilating, cleaning of interior and exterior and general supervision of custodial staff assigned to the buildingAssists administration in evaluating, scheduling and recommending all custodial staff assigned to the buildingCleans areas of school as requiredCoordinates special maintenance requirementsRemoves snow and cuts the lawnPrepare for/clean up after the student lunch hourPerforms other duties as assigned by immediate supervisor Qualifications Considerable knowledge of the operation and maintenance of steam boilers, fans, traps, valves, pumps, and other plant equipmentKnowledge of air conditioning and refrigeration unitsSome knowledge of electrical equipment and plumbingKnowledge of maintenance of groundsAbility to work effectively with staff, students and publicAbility to keep records and work schedules for custodial staffExperience in operating, maintaining, and repairing power plant equipmentAbility to evaluate, recommend and directly supervise the work of the custodial staffLow-pressure boiler Operator's License required within two years of assuming positionRequires heavy lifting over 50 lbs.Ability to climb ladders, crawl in tunnels, and perform physical labor involving long hours of standing Physical Demands While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk, hear, walk, stand, reach, lift and carry items.Lifting requirements includes materials over 50 pounds. Other physical demands include climbing ladders, and crawling in tunnels. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and depth perception. Standard Day shift hours are from 7:00 am – 3:00 pm, subject to change based on location Pay Range E-1 $19.96 - $23.46/hr + up to an additional $0.73 p/hour with Education Credits In accordance with the GPPA union contract, starting pay may depend on experience.
