Marketing Specialist Intern

ReanKhmer - Learn Khmer · Lake County, IN · 1 mo ago
MarketingInternship

ReanKhmer is more than an app — it's a movement to reconnect Cambodian diaspora with their roots. We're looking for a creative, mission-aligned storyteller to help us reach more learners through social media, video, and community engagement.

About the role

Elevate our online and offline presence through storytelling and creative content. This is a remote (global) opportunity with optional in-person diaspora events. The internship lasts 3 months and is extendable, currently volunteer-based with potential for a future paid role.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and produce content across Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, and YouTube — short-form video, reels, carousels, and stories
  • Develop visually engaging posts (graphics, motion graphics, video edits) that celebrate Khmer language and culture
  • Write authentic, diaspora-first copy that resonates with first- and second-generation Cambodians
  • Help shape and execute campaigns tied to product launches, community events, and seasonal moments (Khmer New Year, Pchum Ben, etc.)
  • Support offline presence at community events (CACO, KLACA, and other diaspora organizations) — virtual support if remote
  • Track what's working: engagement, reach, sign-ups, and report back with clear insights

Requirements

  • Strong written English; ability to read or speak some Khmer is a big plus
  • Hands-on experience with at least one design or video tool (Canva, Figma, CapCut, Adobe Premiere, Photoshop, etc.)
  • A genuine voice on social media — your own feed shows craft, taste, or community-building
  • Cultural authenticity: comfortable speaking to the Cambodian diaspora experience without flattening it
  • Self-directed and organized: can run a content calendar without daily oversight

Skills

  • Bonus: experience with paid social, influencer outreach, or community management

Benefits

  • Creative ownership of a real brand's social presence — work you can show in a portfolio
  • Direct mentorship from the founder on brand, narrative, and growth
  • Network access to diaspora community leaders, partner orgs (CACO, KLACA, CCC), and creators
  • A letter of recommendation on successful completion
  • A clear pathway to a paid role as the platform grows

Schedule

  • Duration: 3 months, with the option to extend
  • Hours: Flexible, asynchronous; expect ~8–12 hours/week
  • Weekly check-in with the founder
