About the role
The Marketing & Social Media Coordinator supports the successful execution of M&C initiatives across Esperanza by implementing strategies aligned with organizational priorities, audience goals, messaging, timelines, budgets, and overall strategic objectives to strengthen the organization’s visibility, expand its reach, and support engagement, fundraising, and enrollment efforts.
Responsibilities
- Review, coordinate, and prioritize production/consultation requests, campaign planning, and marketing projects in collaboration with the VP of Marketing & Communications and Creative Director.
- Engage with Communications Advocates, contractors, interns, and volunteers to support successful project execution and provide a positive internal customer service experience.
- Track, review, and report on KPIs, social media analytics, media mentions, and audience engagement metrics with department leadership to evaluate performance and guide marketing decisions.
- Proactively identify and implement opportunities to maximize reach and engagement while maintaining a professional brand presence.
- Seek approval from the Vice President of Marketing and Communications, as needed, for new initiatives, campaigns, or significant content.
- Maintain and update project trackers.
- Keep marketing contracts, organizational brand standards, established processes, standard operating procedures, and guidelines organized and up to date in SharePoint.
- Maintain organizational communication lists and support accurate data collection and database management within Salsa and related platforms.
- Ensure social media channels are up to date, preserve individual identities where necessary (i.e., Esperanza Arts Center, AMLA, EILS, EAC, ECCS), and are reflected within main organizational pages through effective tagging and recognition strategies.
- Drive social media engagement by responding to comments and messages according to our guidelines, fostering meaningful interactions, and helping ensure campaign objectives and performance goals are met.
- Support the promotion of Esperanza programs through newsletters, digital communications, banners, and external media partnerships.
- Coverage of organizational communications platforms, ensuring outreach, registration, and event materials include appropriate sign-up forms and support constituent data collection.
- Collaborate with Development and departments to ensure accurate messaging and proper recognition of funders, donors, partners, and stakeholders across communications and fundraising initiatives.
- Draft, proofread, and coordinate the distribution of social media content, press releases, media advisories, newsletters, and other communications materials to ensure accuracy, consistency, grammar, and formatting.
- Support leadership in strengthening media relations, spokesperson preparation, press opportunities, publications, and organizational visibility initiatives.
- Collaborate closely with Development and various departments to ensure that M&C has a constant supply of fresh and impactful stories readily available for use.
- Ensure event tabling materials, promotional assets, visual displays, and digital screens remain current, organized, and well-stocked.
- Collaborate in the development and production of agency promotional materials, including brochures, capability statements, toolkits, orientation materials, videos, and annual impact reports.
- Cultivate and maintain relationships with bilingual consultants, vendors, freelancers, and media contacts to support effective workflow and organizational responsiveness.
- Coordinate purchase orders, payments, vendor payroll, credit card reconciliations, and related administrative processes in accordance with organizational policies and procedures.
- Coordinate Communications Advocates meetings, including presentations, invitations, and follow-up communications.
- Oversee and execute additional marketing and communications projects as assigned.
Requirements
- 2 years of marketing experience and a proven understanding of social media and email marketing campaigns.
- Bilingual capability (English/Spanish) is preferred.
- A BA/BS degree from an accredited college or university in a related field of study is required.
- Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Bilingual Spanish and English.

- Possesses strong interpersonal skills as demonstrated by cooperative and professional interaction with co-workers, external business partners, and the community.
- Clear and effective communication skills, both in written and verbal forms.
- Excellent proofreading skills.
- Strong project management skills, adhering to tight timelines and budgets.
- Proficiency in content creation, including copywriting.
- Ability to develop and execute marketing campaigns across various channels.
- Effective problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- Working knowledge of email marketing platforms.
- Digital Marketing Savvy: Background knowledge of marketing trends, including social and content marketing.
- Marketing technologies: Comfortable with marketing technologies and fast learning of new platforms.
- Social media: Ability to manage and create content for multiple social media sites such as Facebook and Instagram. YouTube, and LinkedIn. Proven experience implementing organic social media strategies.
Physical Demands
- Frequent standing, walking, sitting, using hands to file documents, finger, handle or feel objects, equipment; reaching with hands and arms; balancing; climbing stairs, stooping, kneeling/crouching.
- Occasional lifting and/or moving up to 25 pounds, including specific marketing equipment and materials.
- Operating general office equipment such as copiers, computers, printers, faxes, scanners, and shredders.
- Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
- Work occurs primarily indoors in a professional environment with moderate background noise and consistent temperature; work may occasionally occur outdoors for events.
- The schedule may require occasional work outside traditional hours, such as on weekends and in the evenings, as needed.
- Travel between locations may be required.
Accountability and Oversight
- Reports to: Vice President of Marketing and Communications.
- Supervises: Consultants/vendors, interns, and volunteers as appropriate.
- Engages approximately eight communications-related points of contact across the company and must be able to interact directly with senior executives as needed.
