About Us

Mattress Factory is a contemporary art museum on the Northside of Pittsburgh, founded in 1977. We feature site-specific installations created by artists in residence from around the world.

About You

You are passionate about the arts and thrive when people adore the shows, artists, exhibits, articles, and outlets you recommend. You’re interested in gaining experience in a nonprofit arts setting and want to develop your understanding of how marketing works in tandem with existing departments to support the museum’s overall mission.

Requirements

• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to balance detail-oriented work with consideration of “big picture” concepts.
• Basic knowledge of marketing concepts, tools, platforms, software, and digital + “IRL” trends.
• Proficiency in a CMS platform (e.g., WordPress), email and social management software (e.g., Buffer or Mailchimp), Meta Ads Manager, Google Analytics, and Google Search Console is a plus.
• Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program in a related field.

Responsibilities

• Conduct market research, press outreach, social media management, content creation, and campaign analysis.
• Update digital archives and create/update printed collateral.
• Provide general administrative support.
• Assist in the creation and implementation of marketing campaigns across multiple channels, including social media, email, web, SEO/SEM, and paid advertising.
• Monitor and manage social media platforms, including creating and scheduling content, engaging with followers, and analyzing performance metrics.
• Assist in the cultivation and analysis of campaign performance data and prepare reports with actionable insights.
• Collaborate across departments to design and execute marketing assets for events, exhibitions, membership, and educational programming.
• Assist with general administrative tasks, such as data entry, document organization, and maintaining the marketing materials inventory.
