About The Crossroads Economics Center

The Crossroads Economics Center (CEC) is a public-facing, applied economics center focused on community engagement, student experiential learning, and accessible economic education. We translate economic research into clear, real-world insights for students, community members, and policymakers, while providing Weber State students with hands-on experience applying economics beyond the classroom.

Position Overview

The CEC is seeking a Marketing Intern to support the Center's outreach, branding, and communication efforts. This role is ideal for a creative, organized student interested in marketing, communications, or design; especially within a mission-driven, community-focused environment. The intern will play a key role in building the Center's visibility across campus and in the broader Northern Utah community.

Responsibilities

  • Build and manage social media presence
    • Develop and maintain consistent posting across platforms
    • Help grow audience engagement and visibility
  • Event marketing and promotion
    • Market CEC events across campus using flyers, digital boards, email, and social media
    • Assist with distributing and posting materials in the Goddard School and across campus
  • Content and design
    • Create Marketing Materials Including:
      • Newsletters
      • Event announcements and flyers
      • Reports and presentations
    • Ensure materials are clear, professional, and accessible to nontechnical audiences
  • Brand coordination
    • Work with the Goddard School's Marketing Manager to:
      • Maintain brand consistency
      • Coordinate social media posting (if using shared accounts)
      • Assist with website updates and maintenance
  • Event support
    • Assist with setup and takedown for CEC events
    • Provide on-site support during events as needed

Required Qualifications

  • Current Weber State University student (preferred)
  • Interest in marketing, communications, business, or related field
  • Strong written communication skills
  • Basic design experience (Canva, Adobe, or similar tools)
  • Familiarity with social media platforms (Instagram, LinkedIn, etc.)
  • Organized, reliable, and able to manage multiple small projects
  • Ability to translate complex ideas into simple, engaging content

Preferred Qualifications

  • Interest in economics, public policy, or community engagement
  • Experience with event promotion or campus organizations
  • Basic familiarity with website editing (or willingness to learn)
  • Experience with Canva, Adobe Creative or similar

Pay & Schedule

  • Hourly Pay Rate: $15
  • Hours per week: 10–15 hours per week (flexible scheduling)
