Marketing Executive / Business Development Manager

About the Role

This position focuses on market services for businesses, hospitals, healthcare providers, mental health professionals, and community agencies in Southern Alabama, spanning from the Montgomery to Mobile region.

Responsibilities

  • Liaise and network with stakeholders including customers, colleagues, suppliers, and partner organizations.
  • Arrange training seminars using internal and external resources to educate doctors, nurses, counselors, social workers, EAPs, and other parties on mental health and substance abuse issues.
  • Conduct in-service training and briefings for professional and semi-professional groups, with the ability to refer patients to AHS Hospital(s).
  • Pursue relevant conference sponsorships and manage conference representation.
  • Work directly with the Access to Care Department and clients to ensure all admission and billing requirements are met.
  • Proactively seek and respond to requests and inquiries from community resources for new business opportunities.
  • Maintain awareness of territory assignments and marketing representative daily locations to ensure rapid response to special needs, particularly related to service recovery.
  • Demonstrate ongoing awareness and understanding of facility contracts with all payor sources (commercial, managed care, managed Medicaid, federal, state, local).
  • Review territory assignments periodically to ensure efficient use of human resources and effective marketing strategies.
  • Maintain a territory that includes local area referring sources and meet required quotas for contacts, visits, and admissions.
  • Educate, lead, and coordinate efforts to develop referring relationships (community liaison).
  • Maintain accurate reports on referral tracking and provide Hospital Administration with monthly intake and admissions reports covering statistical data affecting admissions and marketing.
  • Provide Hospital Administration with quarterly/seasonal plans covering business development goals and budget requirements.
  • Actively execute tasks to meet customer needs, ensure long-term client retention, and identify new business opportunities.
  • Survey referral sources for quality assurance in various marketing areas.
  • Ensure sufficient marketing materials (printed, novelty items, etc.) to represent AHS Hospital(s).
  • Collaborate regularly with department, center, AHS hospital staff, and community providers to coordinate and facilitate care and follow up on referrals.
  • Adhere to a professional code of ethics.
  • Arrange effective distribution of marketing materials and monitor competitor activity.
  • Work with the Public Relations Department to keep marketing materials current and create new materials as needed.
  • Order marketing and PR materials as required.
  • Seek supervision and consultation as needed and accept suggestions for improvement.
  • Actively work to enhance professional skills and maintain accurate, timely, clear, and concise records.
  • Document accounts, contacts, and daily notes in Sales Force to build a referral database.
  • Maintain courteous and respectful attitudes toward consumers, visitors, and co-workers.
  • Treat consumers with care, dignity, and respect, ensuring privacy and sensitivity to their needs.
  • Assist consumers and visitors as needed, ensuring personal values do not inhibit ability to relate and care for others.
  • Actively participate in Performance Improvement, UM/UR activities, and AltaPointe committees.
  • Complete assigned tasks in a timely manner and access appropriate community resources according to consumers' needs.
  • Follow AltaPointe policies and procedures and maintain current licenses and certifications, if applicable.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a healthcare-related field, ADN or RN nursing degree, psychology degree, communications degree, and/or a mental health-related field.
  • Minimum of five years’ experience in the medical/mental health care field and/or marketing/sales experience with knowledge of business development techniques.
  • Vision, commitment, leadership, creativity, and the ability to make difficult decisions in a dynamic environment.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, including the ability to prepare and present clear, concise, and effective presentations.
  • Strong development, multitasking, and organizational skills, with the ability to establish priorities and implement marketing materials.
  • Broad knowledge of the mental health field, including related programs, resources, and providers.
