About the Role
The primary purpose of this position is to develop, coordinate, direct, and administer the facility's marketing and public relations programs and services.
Responsibilities
- Maintain a current listing of all resident care employee phone numbers.
- Plan, develop, organize, implement, evaluate, and direct the facility's public relations and marketing programs to maintain and increase census and provide community information about the facility, its programs, services, and practices.
- Develop and maintain written policies and procedures governing the release of information concerning residents, employees, and/or the facility in accordance with current Privacy Rules and Regulations.
- Assist department directors in developing and using marketing and public relations policies and procedures, fostering interdepartmental rapport to highlight each staff member's role in these programs.
- Review the facility's marketing and public relations policies and procedures annually and make necessary updates.
- Assist in the development, implementation, and tracking of customer satisfaction surveys.
- Interpret facility policies and procedures governing information release to employees, residents, family members, visitors, and government agencies as needed.
- Ensure public information (e.g., policy manuals, brochures, information packets) accurately and fully describes the facility's services.
- Ensure all employees follow established policies and procedures for information release.
- Organize and implement internal communications using bulletin boards, newsletters, meetings, and other tools.
- Schedule and participate in departmental meetings concerning marketing and public relations programs.
- Provide creative support for activity and social services departments in developing resident programs and publications.
- Maintain liaison with families, residents, and community/civic leaders.
- Participate in community service and civic groups to seek support for charitable activities.
- Engage with news media to promote new programs, promotions, and facility initiatives beneficial to the community.
- Keep the Administrator informed of media coverage impacting the facility or relevant regulations.
- During emergencies, establish a public relations area to ensure accurate information release within established policies.
- Assist in planning, conducting, and scheduling in-service training, on-the-job training, and orientation programs related to marketing and public relations.
- Create and maintain a warm, positive, and calm environment throughout the facility.
- Follow ergonomics policies to prevent work-related injuries.
- Prepare and manage the departmental operating budget for Administrator approval.
- Serve on facility committees as directed by the Administrator.
- Maintain confidentiality of resident care information, including protected health information, and report unauthorized disclosures.
- Interpret resident rights to residents, families, and staff as needed.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college/university, or equivalent (five years of marketing/public relations experience in a healthcare setting may substitute for the degree).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suite products.
Skills
- Language Skills: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to present information and respond to questions from managers and employees.
- Mathematical Skills: Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
- Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve practical problems and handle concrete variables in situations with limited standardization. Ability to interpret instructions in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Supervisory Responsibilities
This position has supervisory responsibilities.
Physical Demands
- Occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
- Prolonged use of desktop or laptop computers.
- Regularly required to sit, stand, walk, talk, read, or hear.
- Frequent use of office equipment such as copiers, scanners, fax machines, telephones, and calculators.
- May assist in evacuating residents during emergencies.

- Noise level is usually low to moderate.
