About the role
The California Lottery is a multi-billion-dollar enterprise headquartered in Sacramento and a revenue generator for the state, funding California’s public schools and colleges. As a Category Analyst – Scratchers, you will play a key role in shaping the future of our Scratchers product portfolio, supporting the Lottery’s mission to generate supplemental funding for public education.
Responsibilities
- Support the product lifecycle by performing game activations and end-of-game tasks as the main user of the CA Lottery Gaming System.
- Develop new Scratchers games, including strategy, planning, and execution from concept to launch, implementing prize structures, playstyles, and themes.
- Provide logistics support by working closely with the Warehouse to track Scratchers deliveries, resolve errors, and support logistics processes.
- Collaborate across teams, including vendors, Warehouse, Sales, Marketing, and Finance, to bring innovative games to market.
Requirements
- Current eligibility on the Marketing Analyst I exam (required for this position).
- Creative thinker with strong attention to detail and a passion for product development.
- Collaborative team player with effective communication skills.
- Must reside in California to be eligible for telework per California Government Code Section 14200.
- Must be able to report to the Sacramento headquarters as assigned; travel expenses are the responsibility of the employee.
Qualifications
All experience and education relating to the Minimum Qualifications listed on the Classification Specification must be included on your State Application (STD Form 678) to demonstrate eligibility. The Classification Specification is available on the job posting under "Minimum Requirements."
Special Requirements
- The California State Lottery Act prohibits hiring individuals convicted of a felony or any gambling-related offense.
- A background investigation must be cleared prior to hiring.
- If basing eligibility on education, provide transcripts and/or a diploma. Applicants with foreign transcripts must submit a transcript evaluation indicating equivalent units. Transcripts and evaluations may be unofficial at the application stage but official transcripts will be required upon appointment.
Pay
$4,181.00 - $5,233.00 (Range A) | $5,014.00 - $6,276.00 (Range B) per month. New to State candidates will be hired into the minimum salary of the classification or minimum of the alternate range when applicable.
Effective July 1, 2025, specific bargaining units and excluded State employees are subject to a salary reduction between 2% - 4.62% in exchange for Personal Leave hours each month.
Schedule
Permanent, full-time position with a hybrid telework schedule.
