The Market Manager Role
The Market Manager acts as the internal expert on market trends, dynamics, and customer needs. This role is pivotal in defining where to play by translating market insights into actionable strategies, investment priorities, and long-term growth opportunities aligned with business objectives. The Market Manager is responsible for market segmentation, analyzing market size and growth rates, and developing strategies to drive solution development. They also lead market research, maintain the Copeland market model, and assess competitive, industry, and regulatory trends to inform cross-functional teams.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and deliver the Copeland Business Strategy Plan, including market sizing, key trends analysis, and competitor insights
Create market roadmaps to guide product and solution development
Identify M&A opportunities and develop strategic roadmaps
Conduct value assessments to support value propositions
Gather and analyze Voice of Customer insights to understand market challenges, customer needs, and regulatory impacts
Monitor competitive strategies and end-user requirements to influence specifications and market strategies
Define market segmentation, targeting, and prioritization to guide resource allocation and strategic focus
Translate market insights into clear growth initiatives and align cross-functionally (Product, Portfolio Marketing, Commercial teams) to drive execution
Embed market intelligence into planning cadences (e.g., AOP, strategy reviews) to ensure decisions are data-driven and aligned
Monitor KPIs: Market growth and share vs. plan, Revenue and profitability by market, Delivery and execution of 5-year market strategy, M&A pipeline quality and success, Adoption and impact of market insights in business decisions
Required Education, Experience, & Skills
Minimum 5+ years of experience in market research, strategy development, or a related field
Proven leadership and communication skills with success in aligning cross-functional teams to execute market strategies
Advanced proficiency with data analysis tools, market modeling platforms, and visualization tools for market sizing, segmentation, and performance tracking
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills rooted in data-driven decision-making and strategic planning
A relentless pursuit of excellence and a strong desire to build agile systems that support commercial and operational excellence
Deep commitment to ownership, continuous learning, and taking proactive steps to improve business outcomes
Bachelor’s degree in marketing, business administration, economics, engineering or a related field
Ability to travel 30%+
PREFERRED Education, Experience, & Skills
Master’s degree in marketing, business administration, economics, engineering or a related field
Advanced knowledge of market segmentation, competitive analysis, and growth strategy development
Experience in identifying M&A opportunities and developing strategic roadmaps
Deep understanding of market dynamics, customer needs, and regulatory impacts on business strategy
Familiarity with Voice of Customer (VoC) methodologies and tools
Previous work experience in the Cold Chain – Foodservice industry or related experience with Copeland compression, controls, and enterprise services
Onsite Work Arrangement
This role is based fully onsite, and not eligible for hybrid or remote work opportunities. There is the option to have 1 work from home day per week.
