About the role

The Assistant Market Grille Department Manager position at Hy-Vee is responsible for assisting the Department Manager in presenting fresh, innovative, and high-quality products at competitive prices. The role also involves ensuring a positive company image by providing courteous, friendly, and efficient customer service.

Responsibilities

• Provides prompt, efficient, and friendly customer service by greeting customers and addressing their needs.
• Escorts customers to products, secures items, loads/unloads heavy items, and passes along customer suggestions or requests.
• Answers the telephone and takes product orders.
• Works with co-workers to maintain a pleasant work environment and customer satisfaction.
• Checks and sets up production timelines, assigns tasks, and ensures proper staffing levels.
• Rotates and replenishes perishable products, cleans the supply area, and handles catering contracts.
• Ensures food safety guidelines are followed and resolves customer issues.
• Suggests ad items, signs, and in-store specials, and prepares the intercom message.
• Assists in monthly inventory, posts invoices, helps with counts, and calculates intra and inter-store figures.
• Adheres to proper sanitation procedures and maintains a clean, neat work area.
• Trains employees in department duties and assists in other areas of the store as needed.
• Performs other job-related duties and special projects as required.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent with Sanitation (Food Safety) courses preferred.
• One year of similar or related experience.
• Ability to solve practical problems, do arithmetic calculations, file, post, interview, guide, and provide direction.
• Physical ability to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, up to 20 pounds frequently, and up to 10 pounds constantly.
• Visual requirements including vision from less than 20 inches and more than 20 feet, color vision, depth perception, and field of vision.
• Must be able to perform physical activities such as climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions.

• Must understand and practice proper sanitation procedures.
