About the Role
As the Market General Manager II, you will be responsible for the successful management of a company-owned distributorship, ensuring it meets or exceeds all financial and operational goals. This includes developing and executing gross profit-generating and lead acquisition strategies.
Responsibilities
- Direct accountability for the Profit & Loss (P&L) and budget performance of the distributorship.
- Review, monitor, and analyze weekly scorecards and monthly financials to identify variances in fiscal year (FY) plans and create action plans in collaboration with leadership.
- Investigate and communicate activities contributing to significant positive financial results.
- Actively track Accounts Receivable (AR) to maintain acceptable levels and develop action plans for accounts with unacceptable balances.
- Participate in developing the Annual Operating Plan (AOP).
- Assess and manage inventory flow to ensure accuracy and minimize waste (e.g., unaccounted loss, broken, or obsolete units).
- Review and analyze tools to identify declining dealers and take corrective action.
- Understand key account hierarchy, maintain relationships with decision-makers, and build strong partnerships with dealers.
- Investigate and resolve customer complaints promptly.
- Lead and manage the local Sales Team to acquire new business, grow the customer base, and foster strong dealer relationships.
- Spend significant time in the market to understand competitive products and services.
- Ensure service to National Accounts meets or exceeds Service Level Agreement (SLA) expectations.
- Communicate Enterprise initiatives, IOT goals, and Regional objectives to distributorship staff for clarity and alignment.
- Establish weekly meetings with distributorship staff.
- Provide annual performance reviews, hiring, promotions, and performance management for all Team Members.
- Manage and lead a team to achieve annual goals using progressive discipline and recognition programs.
- Provide consistent training and coaching to develop Team Members' skills.
- Ensure data integrity in reporting systems by holding Team Members accountable for accurate and timely submissions.
- Ensure compliance with all IOT standard operating procedures, including OSHA and DOT requirements.
- Develop best practices to improve productivity, efficiency, and revenue goals.
- Manage routing procedures to maximize equipment and labor utilization.
- Provide ongoing feedback for continuous process improvement.
- Execute enterprise pilot programs and support Enterprise, IOT, and Support Center initiatives.
- Follow up on preventative fleet maintenance requirements.
- Execute all Safety Programs and foster a safe work environment.
Requirements
- Minimum of 5 years of managerial experience with a proven track record of producing positive results.
- Previous experience in a Warehouse or Distribution environment is preferred.
- Basic proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Knowledge of the battery business and/or automotive systems is preferred.
- Strong teamwork skills, with the ability to foster cooperative group dynamics.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy.
- Interpersonal awareness to anticipate and address others' concerns and feelings.

Scope
- Manage a team of direct reports.
- Responsible for a distributorship handling 100,000+ units annually.
- Internal contacts include Operation Directors, Market General Managers, ACES, NAC, and HO staff.
- External contacts include customers.
- Operate with high relational interaction and minimal supervision.
- Build and maintain relationships across the Enterprise for data sourcing.
- Accountable for departmental resources and budgetary activities, including P&L.
- Model Interstate’s Purpose and Values.
Work Environment
- Ability to sustain a seated posture for prolonged periods.
- Regularly required to stand, walk, hear, talk, and use hands for grasping and handling objects.
- Involves manual handling, verbal communication, and auditory tasks.
- Specific vision abilities include close vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
- Ability to occasionally lift and/or move 50+ lbs.
- May be exposed to warehouse conditions, including moving equipment, mechanical parts, fumes, airborne particles, and toxic or caustic chemicals.
- Prolonged use of computer and telephone.
- Ability to operate a motor vehicle.
