Brief Job Overview

The Market Development Manager is responsible for executing a comprehensive business growth strategy to expand USP Biologics activities across various therapeutic areas. This role will identify, research, and pursue new and adjacent market opportunities, translating market insights into actionable strategies that drive adoption of USP Biologics standards and reference materials.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze competitor activity
  • Track regional customer and pipeline data
  • Manage budgets and forecasts for growth initiatives
  • Maintain performance through regular reporting to ensure delivery against key objectives
  • Support voice-of-customer efforts to inform future standards and materials development
  • Contribute to external collaborations aligned with USP’s mission

  • Excellent in-person and virtual presentation skills
  • Strong business acumen with the ability to understand, align to, and deliver against business objectives
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and Copilot; experienced in data querying, analysis, and reporting
  • Willingness and ability to work flexible hours to support global time zones
  • Knowledge of USP products and services is highly desirable

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Life Sciences, or a related science field required
  • 3 - 4 years of experience in global pharmaceutical or life science tools industry, a strong understanding of local market and manufacturing trends, and an existing network of industry contacts
  • At least 2 years of experience in sales, marketing or customer-facing role
  • Basic understanding of pharmaceutical industry, FDA/government regulations and use of compendial and industry standards

Desired Preferences

  • Combined education and experience within life science tools, pharmaceutical manufacturing, and analytical sciences
  • Experience using data analytical platforms (e.g. Tableau), digital marketing platforms (e.g. Marketo) and CRM platform (e.g. Sales Force)
  • Previous sales and/or global marketing experience of standards, controls, or reference materials
  • Experience with regulatory compliance, quality control, quality assurance or GMP background a plus
