POSITION SUMMARY:

MPC is seeking a shore-based Marine Tankerman in the Catlettsburg, KY area. The position reports to the Marine Tankering Services Supervisor and plays a crucial role in the Tankering Services Group. Candidates should be able to contribute to an inclusive work environment, handle various tasks, and maintain safety standards.

  • Conduct barge transfers based on MPC's procedures and USCG regulations.
  • Troubleshoot and perform minor maintenance on barges.
  • Proficient in all phases of barge transfers, including heater operation on hot oil barges.
  • Maintain records and document transfer times accurately.
  • Ensure uniforms and equipment are in good condition for each transfer.
  • Conduct transfer audits and train new Tankermen.
  • Interface with customers according to MPC's policies.
  • Participate in safety and training activities.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Conduct barge transfers based on MPC’s procedures and all applicable USCG regulations/guidelines.
  • Troubleshoot and perform minor maintenance on barges.
  • Proficient in all phases of barge transfers, including heater operation on hot oil barges.
  • Maintain records and document all transfer times to be turned into the office in a timely manner.
  • Ensure uniforms and equipment necessary for transfers are in good, clean condition.
  • May conduct transfer audits on third-party Tankermen and assist in training new Tankermen.
  • Interface with customers and do so in accordance with MPC’s policies/procedures.
  • Participate in safety and training activities.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • A high school diploma or GED is required.
  • A valid driver’s license is required.
  • Own mode of dependable transportation and ability to travel up to a 200-mile radius of Catlettsburg, KY.
  • A valid USCG issued Merchant Mariner Credential (MMC) with Tankerman-PIC (Barge) endorsement and a DL (dangerous liquid) qualification is required.
  • A valid USCG medical certificate is required.
  • Must be able to obtain a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) card within 2 weeks of employment.
  • Pass a pre-employment drug test and background check.
