Join HII’s Mission Technologies Division, a team of over 7,000 professionals delivering all-domain expertise and advanced technologies globally. This role supports the SEMAT EQOL team in San Diego, CA, focusing on mechanical maintenance and training for shipboard personnel operating galley, laundry, and mess-decks equipment on USN Surface Ships.

Responsibilities

• Perform maintenance on mechanical equipment/systems in galley, scullery, mess-decks, and laundry equipment onboard ships.
• Interface with customers, manage subcontractors, and provide work direction to others.
• Lead and manage one or more jobs.
• Develop and use technical documents, including controlled work packages, formal work processes, test documents, reports, and task/trip reports.
• Schedule, report, and brief customers and senior management.
• Perform quality inspections on finished products.
• Complete tasks outside of specialty to finish installations or assignments.

Requirements

• High School education, Trade School, or equivalent, with 6 years of related experience.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a DOD Confidential security clearance.
• Shipboard mechanical maintenance and repair experience.
• Ability to read and interpret ship drawings, technical documents, and manuals.
• Competency in using mechanical equipment and tools for corrective repairs.
• Must provide own hand tools as designated per trades specialty.
• Physically able to climb and work on ships in an industrial environment.
• Start date contingent upon approval of base access, required for continued employment.

Preferred Qualifications

• Recent marine mechanical shipboard experience on USN ships.
• Technical/professional certifications.
• A current, valid DOD Confidential security clearance or higher.

Physical Requirements

• Must lift, carry, and transport heavy equipment and boxes (minimum 30 lbs).
• Able to work on and climb ladders, in extreme temperatures, aboard ships, in shipyards, and under industrial conditions.
• May work in high heat, humidity, noise, and dirty conditions, including confined spaces, aloft, or over vessel sides.
• May ride ships at sea for extended periods.
• May require wearing a respirator.
• Travel may be required within and outside the continental United States.

Pay

Anticipated salary range: $58,058.00 - $63,856.00. Bonus or other non-recurrent compensation may occasionally be offered for qualified positions.
