About the role
Vigor Marine Group is seeking a skilled Electrical Journeyman to join our team. This role is with a federally contracted employer and is subject to regulations that restrict employment to US Persons only.
Responsibilities
- Complies with all craft and shipyard safety and environmental measures.
- Consistently exceeds Journeyman standards.
- Troubleshoots advanced electrical systems and circuits (e.g., multiple function systems).
- Covers different crafts to complete assigned tasks.
- Coordinates with other crafts to ensure successful completion of projects.
- Tests equipment and ensures proper care and safe use of hand and power tools.
- Works from ship specifications, work orders, and applicable working drawings and blueprints.
- Researches and suggests comprehensive condition found reports (CFRs).
- Ensures compliance with ABS and Coast Guard regulations.
- Performs similar work in all areas of the Yard as needed.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- 4 years relevant work experience.
- Proven skills in several skills with more advanced knowledge of one primary skill and possession of at least one certification.
- General supervision during performance of primary skill but capable of performing job duties of A-1 through A-3 with little or no supervision.

- Advanced knowledge of AC and DC electrical theory.
- Power generation, control, and distribution.
- Troubleshooting electrical equipment.
- Use of test equipment.
- Blueprint reading and advanced layout.
- Electric motors and controls.
- Grounding and bonding.
- Cable identification: size requirements and ampacity limits or where to find the information.
- Fabrication and installation of packing tubes, multiple cable transits, collars, conduit, and raceways.
- Conduit bending.
- Interior communications and alarms.
