Skills, Abilities & Qualifications

• High School Diploma
• Past performance experience in marching ensembles (marching band, drum corps, winter percussion)
• DCI, DCA, WGI, or college marching band experience a plus

About the Role

The Danbury High School Marching Band is seeking support staff for the 2026 season. Positions include:

Responsibilities

• Low Brass Technician: Provides instruction to low brass students in individual and ensemble technique, tone production, and marching performance.
• High Brass Technician: Supports the Low Brass Technician by focusing on high brass players and assisting with sectionals.
• Woodwind Caption Head: Oversees all woodwind instruction and coordinates efforts between woodwind and brass techs.
• Visual Technician #1: Collaborates with the Visual Caption Head and Band Director to teach marching technique, posture, and body movement.
• Visual Technician #2: Collaborates with the Visual Caption Head and Band Director to teach marching technique, posture, and body movement.
• Color Guard Caption Head: Leads all aspects of the Color Guard program including choreography, equipment technique, and performance quality.
• Front Ensemble Technician #1: Instructs pit percussion students in technique and ensemble integration.
• Front Ensemble Technician #2: Instructs pit percussion students in technique and ensemble integration.
• Bass Technician: Teaches battery percussion technique and coordinates music with drill.
• Snare Technician: Teaches battery percussion technique and coordinates music with drill.

Requirements

• Low Brass Technician: Fall commitment includes 6 hours/day during Band Camp and approximately 15 hours/week during the regular season. Stipend: $1,000
• High Brass Technician: Stipend: $1,000
• Woodwind Caption Head: Commitment includes Band Camp and approximately 15 hours/week during the season. Stipend: $2,000
• Visual Technician #1: Stipend: $1,000
• Visual Technician #2: Stipend: $1,000
• Color Guard Caption Head: Stipend: $2,000
• Front Ensemble Technician #1: Reports to the Band Director and works closely with the Percussion Caption Head. Stipend: $1,000
• Front Ensemble Technician #2: Reports to the Band Director and works closely with the Percussion Caption Head. Stipend: $1,000
• Bass Technician: Reports to the Band Director and Percussion Caption Head. Stipend: $1,000
• Snare Technician: Reports to the Band Director and Percussion Caption Head. Stipend: $1,000
