About the role

The Manufacturing Technology Engineer I role is responsible for partnering with various departments to gather technical proposals, design and develop complex Manufacturing Technology projects, primarily supporting manufacturing line processes.

Responsibilities

  • Design, modify and deploy Manufacturing Technology Solutions through various software across multiple sites.
  • Specify hardware requirements and assist in the design of software systems dedicated to capturing process information such as OEE, FPY, Scrap, Rework, productivity, downtime analysis, and predictive maintenance.
  • Create dashboards and reports that present production data to plant staff and management.
  • Perform data analysis using software tools to model and develop new understanding of manufacturing opportunities.
  • Develop business logic when certain events are detected in operations to minimize the cost impact of the events.
  • Work with internal stakeholders to identify their requirements and develop innovative solutions that meet and exceed these needs.
  • Create and organize documentation on all MT solutions to facilitate knowledge transfer to Niagara manufacturing sites.
  • Investigate equipment failures and difficult to diagnose faulty operations, and make recommendations to engineers, suppliers and customers.
  • Proactively engage with customers in order to define the overall technical approach for Manufacturing Technology solutions.
  • Maintain technical skills and knowledge and keep them continuously updated.
  • Absorb and implement changes to the manufacturing process.
  • Assist in the development of Asset Management Systems and Computerized Maintenance Management systems.
  • Proactively report on project progress against schedule.
  • Participate in strategic and tactical planning sessions.

Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in the role.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience managing people/projects.

Qualifications

  • Minimum bachelor's degree in manufacturing, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
  • Preferred master's degree in manufacturing, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
  • Strong exposure to Manufacturing Technologies including MES, LMS, CMMS, automated data collection, visualization, quality, efficiency in manufacturing, automated decision control, workflow, database applications, scheduling, and interface to ERP systems.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Applications, Oracle Business Systems, Efficiency Improvement Analysis Applications, New System Implementation & Administration.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Self-motivated with a proven record of taking the initiative.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to work effectively with a diverse workforce.

  • Manufacturing Technologies including MES, LMS, CMMS, automated data collection, visualization, quality, efficiency in manufacturing, automated decision control, workflow, database applications, scheduling, and interface to ERP systems.
