Manufacturing Technician B - Weekend B Shift
L3Harris Technologies is seeking a Manufacturing Technician to join our growing facility in Camden, Arkansas. The Manufacturing Technician will join an exceptional cross-functional team of engineers and technicians to fabricate components and assemble them into the most advanced solid rocket systems in the world. This is an entry-level position for mixing and processing of energetics for casting.
About the role
The Manufacturing Technician will perform routine and repetitive duties within the manufacturing operations area under close supervision, receiving detailed instructions. The role involves functions such as cleaning and assembling equipment, cleaning tools, parts, and work areas, operating machinery, and recording and maintaining records for manufactured products. The technician must work safely while producing a high-quality product and maintaining a clean and orderly work area.
Responsibilities
- 50% - Full scale propellant mixing: Prepares materials and performs full-scale mixing for all production programs, confirming acceptable weights prior to releasing the materials to casting operations. Performs full-scale mixes for new programs/new formulations. Requisitions and organizes materials and processing required for the mix, cleans and maintains full-scale mix equipment. Performs duties under the general direction of engineers and area supervisors using established, well-defined methods and calculations.
- 10% - Mathematical: Performs mathematical calculations (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division) to create acceptable mixes for casting and uses process data to fill out manufacturing data sheets using well-defined methods.
- 35% - Grinding: Assembles grinders and grinds materials for full-scale propellant mixes. Weighs material bins to correct weight for propellant mixing. Disassembles, cleans, and reassembles full-scale grinding equipment.
- 5% - Other duties as assigned: Includes AP prep for grinding, bowl plugging for mixing, prototype motor casting, development sample preparation, and support of new production initiatives and schedules. Willing and available to work other shifts or overtime as needed to meet production schedules. Able to work from elevated platforms, ascend ladders, and transport 35 lbs. repetitively. Medically cleared to wear a respirator and operate powered industrial vehicles (and obtain company-issued license as appropriate).
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent with 4 years of prior related experience, or 2 years post-Secondary/Associate’s Degree with 0 to 2 years of prior related experience.
- Ability to understand and follow written and oral instructions.
- Ability to follow safety practices.
- Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with the work team and those contacted in the course of work.
- Ability to perform mathematical calculations accurately and quickly.
- Ability to work with management, supervisors, or lead personnel to prioritize work and meet critical deadlines.
- Must be willing and available to work other shifts or overtime as needed.
- Able to work from elevated platforms, ascend ladders, and transport 35 lbs. repetitively.
- Medically cleared to wear a respirator and operate powered industrial vehicles (and obtain company-issued license as appropriate).
- Must be a U.S. citizen to obtain a security clearance (if required for the position).
Schedule
Employees work 10-hour days, 4 days a week (weekend night shift).
