Northrop Grumman’s Space Sector is seeking a Manufacturing Technician – Level 1 to join our team in Salt Lake City, UT, supporting our Copper Crossing Value Stream (CXVS) facility.

Responsibilities

• Perform hands-on activities/tasks associated with manufacturing composite rocket cases, including:
  • Tooling assembly/disassembly
  • Case surface preparation
  • Operation of composite winding equipment
  • Maintaining cleanliness of the work area and facilities
• Participate as a team member to positively influence and enhance the safety, quality, cost, and schedule of the team
• Start and end helicals and hoops in carbon winding process, following planning requirements
• Continuously monitor machinery to ensure winding is completed according to established planning and procedures
• Weigh material for mixing process
• Work with resins, carbon fiber, chemical cleaning processes (e.g., industrial degreaser), and aluminum oxide cloth
• Operate industrial equipment such as bridge cranes, forklifts, precision measuring instruments, and hand tools
• Read blueprints and monitor/verify quality in accordance with statistical process control and design specifications
• Perform safe handling of hazardous waste materials for disposal
• Adhere to stringent procedures for assigned duties

Requirements

• Willingness to perform shift work and overtime, including weekends and holidays
• Valid state driver’s license
• Ability to read and apply blueprints
• Ability to perform basic math and measurement functions
• Capability to work in a physically demanding environment, including:
  • Standing for long periods
  • Working from knees
  • Ascending/descending ladders
  • Lifting, bending, twisting, pushing, and pulling up to 50 lbs.
  • Wearing protective equipment (respirator, coveralls, gloves, eye and ear protection, etc.)

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED
• 0-1 years of manufacturing or related experience

Preferred Qualifications

• Associate’s degree or Technical Certificate related to composite materials

Schedule

• B-Shift: Weekday, night shift (12-hour shifts, rotating Thursdays)
• Overtime worked as necessary

Pay

Primary Level Salary Range: $37,400.00 - $62,400.00. The above range represents a general guideline; actual offers consider factors such as scope/responsibilities of the position and candidate’s experience, education, skills, and current market conditions. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions and company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
