About the role
The Manufacturing Tech Lead role involves leading a team of Production Technicians and executing assembly responsibilities on assigned projects. The role also includes supporting the Electrical Assembly Manager by coordinating the team to meet production deadlines and standards.
Responsibilities
- Provide direction, mentoring, and training in operational Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Maintain compliance with established policies and best practices.
- Monitor team performance and provide coaching as necessary.
- Ensure productivity and adherence to quality standards.
- Conduct safety briefings and enforce safety policies.
- Support performance evaluations of assigned team members.
- Occasionally cover for the Electrical Assembly Manager during absences or overtime.
- Manage facility operations, including opening and closing.
- Assemble control panel and switchgear components.
- Modify and retrofit existing structures according to customer specifications.
- Handle metalwork and sheet metal goods.
- Read and interpret blueprint diagrams.
- Fabricate, including saw cutting and drilling, and make cables as needed.
- Achieve work output to the required standard to minimize rework.
- Achieve all mandatory certifications (e.g., OSHA10, CPR).
- Support other sections of the company as required.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Minimum of 4-5 years in mechanical assembly/mechanical repair or associated field.
- Background knowledge of electrical system wiring (DC & AC), 1+3 phase, control systems, and PLC experience (highly desirable).
- Prior leadership experience highly desirable.
- Proficiency using hand tools and power tools, ruler, scale, tape measure, calipers.
- Proficiency reading and understanding blueprints.
- Demonstrated experience in panel assembly and wiring.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet severe time constraints.
- Satisfactory completion of additional background screening.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.

Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Supervisory requirements include providing direction, mentoring, and training in operational SOPs, ensuring compliance with established policies and best practices, supporting performance evaluations, participating in training, and covering for the Electrical Assembly Manager.

Work environment and physical demands
- Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) provided.
- May require regular stooping, kneeling, bending, frequent standing or walking, lifting or moving objects up to 50 lbs.
- Manipulate small parts and use hand tools.
- Good hand-eye coordination and dexterity essential.
- Comfortable with occasional repetitive motions.
- Must be able to follow instructions and stay alert to potential hazards.
- Must be able to access and navigate each department at assigned facilities.
- Subject to seasonal weather conditions (hot in summer, cold in winter).
