Manufacturing Team Lead Trainee (Days-A Shift)

About the role

Lead daily manufacturing team activities, including production start-up meetings, ergonomic work, and job rotation. Guide the team in developing and using standard work instructions, troubleshoot production issues, and perform minor first-line maintenance. Ensure the team meets daily 5S+1, quality, delivery, Kaizen, and cost goals while driving continuous improvement through problem-solving techniques like 5 Why. Conduct cell audits, track team progress, and recommend individual recognition for achievements. Must be able to perform essential Manufacturing Associate operator functions as required.

Responsibilities

• Lead daily activities of a manufacturing production team.
• Conduct daily start-up meetings, ergonomic work, and establish job rotation.
• Guide the team in developing and using standard work instructions.
• Perform first-response troubleshooting and minor first-line maintenance during production line downtime.
• Ensure team achieves daily 5S+1, quality, delivery, Kaizen, and cost goals.
• Recommend individual recognition for goal achievement and contributions.
• Employ problem-solving techniques (e.g., 5 Why) to drive permanent corrective actions.
• Drive Kaizen activities for continuous improvement within work cells.
• Ensure compliance with established policies and procedures.
• Lead preventative maintenance activities and perform cell audits/inspections.
• Chart and track team progress, following up on abnormalities.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
• Minimum of 6 months of employment in a manufacturing environment.
• Legal authorization to work in the U.S. (no visa sponsorship provided).
• Must be 18 years or older.
• Ability to speak, read, and write in English.
• Maintain a safe work environment and adhere to quality standards.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and effective communication with team members and leadership.

Preferred Qualifications

• 1+ years’ experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Experience with continuous improvement measures.
• Intermediate computer skills.
• Strong mechanical aptitude.

Physical Requirements

• Work in a manufacturing shop floor environment with AC climate control.
• Stand or walk for extended periods (10+ hour shifts) and move between training locations, production lines, and workstations.
• Lift, carry, and move materials up to 40 lbs unassisted; heavier items with assistance or equipment.
• Perform frequent and coordinated two-handed tasks requiring fine motor control, steady grip, and precise alignment.
• Maintain balance and stability while handling and transporting materials.
• Alternate between standing, walking, and sitting during training and administrative tasks.
• Reach, bend, stoop, and perform occasional repetitive movements.
• Push and pull carts, training materials, and equipment.
• Work in an environment with continuous background noise from production equipment.
• Perform computer-based tasks, including software use and interpreting screen information.
• Maintain control of small parts and assemblies to prevent damage or loss.
• Maintain visual awareness and focus to inspect parts, verify orientation, and identify defects.
• Maintain hand-eye coordination for safe and efficient component handling.
• Work at a consistent production pace in a cycle-based manufacturing environment.
• Perform fine motor tasks to support operator training activities.
• Move frequently between workstations, warehouse, and production areas.
• Observe work processes, monitor performance, and respond to issues in real time.
• Wear company-provided PPE, including ESD safety-toed shoes, ESD smock, and other protective equipment.

Schedule

• Full-time (4 days working, 4 days off).
• Day shift: 8:00 AM – 6:30 PM.
