Manufacturing Supervisor

Position Summary

BD is seeking a Manufacturing Supervisor to lead and develop associates on our D Shift Night Team (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM) in a fast-paced, highly regulated manufacturing environment. This role is responsible for driving safety, quality, productivity, employee engagement, and continuous improvement while ensuring production goals and customer commitments are achieved.

Shift Details

D Shift – Nights
Hours: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
Schedule:
- Rotating 12-hour night shifts
- Week 1: 36 hours
- Week 2: 48 hours
- Includes alternating weekends
- Overtime required as needed to support production demands

Key Responsibilities

  • Team Leadership & Development
    • Lead, coach, train, and develop manufacturing associates to achieve safety, quality, productivity, and engagement goals.
    • Foster a positive, accountable, and team-oriented culture aligned with BD Values.
    • Provide ongoing coaching, performance feedback, and employee development opportunities.
    • Cook up staffing, overtime, vacations, and shift coverage requirements.
    • Build teamwork and collaboration across shifts and departments.
  • Production Operations
    • Direct day-to-day manufacturing activities to ensure production schedules and customer commitments are met.
    • Maintain a consistent presence on the production floor to support associates and address operational challenges.
    • Monitor production performance and implement actions to achieve operational targets.
    • Manage daily operations to support safety, quality, productivity, and customer service objectives.
    • Partner with technical resources to ensure equipment performance and operational efficiency.
    • Provide production floor coverage as needed for meetings, absences, and staffing gaps.
  • Quality, Safety & Compliance
    • Ensure compliance with BD quality systems, policies, procedures, GMP requirements, and applicable regulatory standards.
    • Promote and maintain a safe work environment in accordance with OSHA and company safety requirements.
    • Ensure associates are properly trained and consistently follow operational, safety, and quality procedures.
    • Drive timely resolution of quality issues and corrective actions.
    • Maintain accurate SAP and MES transactions and inventory accuracy.
    • Maintain clean, organized, and audit-ready production areas.
  • Continuous Improvement
    • Lead continuous improvement activities utilizing Lean Manufacturing principles, KAS, Blitz events, and standard work practices.
    • Partner with Engineering, Quality, Technical Services, and other support functions to solve production challenges.
    • Identify opportunities to improve safety, quality, efficiency, throughput, and cost performance.
    • Support operational improvement and project initiatives as required.
  • Performance Management & Reporting
    • Monitor and communicate key performance metrics including safety, quality, productivity, and customer service.
    • Provide regular updates to department leadership regarding operational performance.
    • Deliver performance feedback and accountability measures to support employee growth and operational success.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant manufacturing, operations, or leadership experience.
  • Strong interpersonal, coaching, and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Working knowledge of SAP.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience with the ability to coach, mentor, and develop employees.
  • Ability to establish and promote a culture of safe, compliant, high-quality operations.
  • Knowledge of FDA regulations, GMP, ISO, OSHA, and related regulatory requirements.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in medical device, pharmaceutical, healthcare, or other regulated manufacturing environments.
  • Experience in Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, Kaizen, or other Continuous Improvement methodologies.
  • Experience leading production teams in a high-volume manufacturing environment.
  • Experience with manufacturing systems such as SAP and MES.
