About the Role

The Manufacturing Process Engineer will support the Mezzanine Products Group, responsible for transitioning new products and processes from development engineering to manufacturing and supply chain. This role involves close collaboration with product development and engineering teams to define manufacturing requirements, manage cross-functional deliverables, develop schedules, and ensure new products are brought to market on time with expected quality and cost performance. The position requires managing projects from early prototype builds through to high-volume production and demands exceptional interpersonal and leadership skills.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in early-stage product development and communicate expectations to ensure successful capture of Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Quality, Test, Installation, and Service requirements.
  • Apply DFM (Design for Manufacturing) methods—including manufacturing, quality, sourcing, service, and cost—into new product designs.
  • Work with development engineering to integrate DFM principles early in the design process and promote concurrent engineering across the organization.
  • Conduct manufacturing readiness assessments and review engineering drawings and technical documentation to ensure all requirements are met before transition to manufacturing and supply chain.
  • Develop schedules for new product releases, set milestones, assess and mitigate risks, coordinate cross-functional activities, and drive results.
  • Deliver new products on-time, within budget, and at expected quality and reliability levels.
  • Perform analyses to establish full production cost expectations (material, labor, burden, tooling).
  • Set initial build plans, drive material readiness with supply chain, and evaluate constraints.
  • Act as the manufacturing liaison to the Engineering team and Operations for resolving technical problems and provide rapid prototyping support.
  • Collaborate with Manufacturing to develop efficient methods for assembling product; design or specify manufacturing equipment, tooling, and processes as required.
  • Provide a feedback loop to Engineering and Supply Chain to capture lessons learned from product rollouts and recommend improvements for future designs and processes.

Requirements

  • B.S. in Mechanical Engineering or Industrial Engineering.
  • 5+ years of experience in Manufacturing Engineering, NPI (New Product Introduction), or Product Development.
  • Technical skills in an electro-mechanical manufacturing environment.
  • Proficiency in 3D modeling using SolidWorks.
  • General understanding of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Experience with FMEA (Failure Modes and Effects Analysis), DOE (Design of Experiments), and continual process improvement.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to engage global customers and all levels of the organization, including management, marketing, sales, process engineering, test lab personnel, and engineers (local and global).
  • Ability to prioritize, manage multiple activities/projects simultaneously, and meet objectives.
  • Excellent problem-solving and project management skills.
  • Strong written, verbal communication, and interpersonal skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of copper alloys, high-performance engineering thermoplastics, or electroplating processes.
  • Basic understanding of electrical connectors.
  • Willingness to travel 6-8 times per year, including internationally.
