Manufacturing Maintenance Technician

Responsibilities

  • Ensure operation of machinery and mechanical equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements on engines, motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, and production machines.
  • Follow diagrams, sketches, operations manuals, manufacturer's instructions, and engineering specifications; troubleshoot malfunctions.
  • Locate sources of problems by observing mechanical devices in operation, listening for issues, and using precision measuring and testing instruments.
  • Remove defective parts by dismantling devices using hoists, cranes, hand tools, and power tools; examine form and texture of parts.
  • Determine changes in dimensional requirements of parts by inspecting used parts using rules, calipers, micrometers, and other measuring instruments.
  • Adjust functional parts of devices and control instruments using hand tools, levels, plumb bobs, and straightedges.
  • Control downtime by conducting routine preventive maintenance techniques and monitoring compliance.
  • Fabricate repair parts using machine shop instrumentation and equipment.
  • Maintain equipment, parts, and supplies inventories by checking stock levels, anticipating needs, placing and expediting orders, and verifying receipt.
  • Provide mechanical maintenance information by answering questions and requests.
  • Prepare mechanical maintenance reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information.
  • Maintain technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing technical publications, and establishing personal networks.
  • Maintain continuity among work teams by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs.
  • Maintain a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
  • Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma.
  • Prior field-related experience.
  • Ability to pass required company tests and maintain proficiency during probationary training.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience in electrical engineering or other related fields.
  • Familiarity with electrical schematics, blueprints, and manuals.
  • Familiarity with electrical equipment and hand tools.
  • Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking skills.
  • Solid understanding of mechanics, pneumatics, hydraulics, and plumbing.
  • Welding and cutting skills preferred.
  • Proficient in reading and writing.
  • Ability to troubleshoot motor and control systems.
  • Perform routine maintenance on electrical wiring and systems.
  • Adhere to all quality and safety codes.

Physical Demands

  • Stand for extended periods of time.
  • Capable of lifting at least 50 lbs.
  • Capable of climbing, kneeling, reaching, and working in restricted or confined spaces.

Work Environment

  • Manufacturing plant environment with large machinery, moving parts, forklift traffic, and material storage.
  • 12-hour shifts (24/7 operation) after qualification.
  • Overtime as needed.
