Summary
The Plant Maintenance Technician conducts preventive maintenance and repairs of our physical plant and manufacturing assets at the Carol Stream and Hanover Park facilities; they also perform electrical and other mechanical modifications and installations to the facilities.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Ensures safe operation of machinery and mechanical equipment
- Maximize the productive uptime of equipment
- Safely troubleshoot live voltage using a voltmeter
- Executes scheduled preventative maintenance to minimize downtime
- Completes Work Order requests as needed and assigned on a timely basis
- Completes facility-specific requests as needed on a timely basis
- Resolves most issues in-house, including electrical troubleshooting and fabrication
- Aid in maintaining a clean and orderly Maintenance shop and related areas
- Other duties may be assigned
Qualifications
- Minimum High School degree or General Education degree (GED) required
- 3+ years of industrial manufacturing maintenance experience, preferably in the food industry
- Equipment and electrical technical understanding, troubleshooting, basic safety, and installation (120V/240V/480V)
- Boiler knowledge, plumbing, welding, and power tools
- HVAC and PLC control logic knowledge preferred
- Computer Skills Required
- Skills/Abilities: Attention to detail, flexibility, and maintenance knowledge
- Willing to work overtime and multi-job functions
- Must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Spanish bilingual preferred, but not required
Work Conditions & Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift up to 55 lbs.
- Ability to stand for extended periods of time
- Must be able to wear any required PPE such as scrubs, hair net, lab coat, and facemask
- Ability to work in a packaging area with a moderate powder substance in the air, with or without a respirator
- Frequent squatting, bending, twisting, and bi-lateral wrist movement
- Ability to work around a variety of different smells and aromas
- Ability to adjust work schedule as business needs require
