Position Purpose
The Manufacturing Engineer – Programming & Integration develops, supports and improves manufacturing processes, specializing in PLC systems and programs, automation integration and controls of processes to ensure efficient, safe and high-quality production across JCB operations.
Major Tasks, Responsibilities & Key Accountabilities
- Troubleshoot, modify, and develop PLC programs (ladder logic, structured text, function block diagrams)
- Work with HMI/SCADA systems for monitoring and control (e.g., FactoryTalk, WinCC, Ignition)
- Commission, debug, and maintain automation systems on production lines
- Create and maintain work instructions and standard operating procedures
- Support production teams with technical and process issues
- Lead or support continuous improvement and lean initiatives
- Support tooling, equipment and layout development
- Ensure compliance with safety, quality and regulatory requirements
- Analyse production and quality data to improve performance
- Collaborate with design, quality and supply chain teams where needed
Minimum Qualifications
- Experience in manufacturing or production engineering
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
- Experience with PLC Systems such as Allen-Bradley (Studio 5000 / RSLogix), Siemens (TIA Portal / Step 7), HMI platforms (FactoryTalk View, WinCC), Industrial networks (Ethernet/IP, Profinet) systems
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
- Effective communication and teamwork skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Engineering degree or equivalent experience
- 3+ Years experience with PLC Systems such as Allen-Bradley (Studio 5000 / RSLogix), Siemens (TIA Portal / Step 7), HMI platforms (FactoryTalk View, WinCC), Industrial networks (Ethernet/IP, Profinet) systems
- Experience with lean manufacturing and continuous improvement
- Experience supporting NPI or process development
- Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Competencies related to manufacturing process knowledge, machine safety systems, cross-functional collaboration, organisational and analytical capability, continuous improvement mindset, right first-time mindset, willingness to learn and further develop skills on PLC systems
