Position Overview
Key Responsibilities
- Operational Agility: Rapidly adjust production workflows and machine scheduling to meet changing customer demands and urgent aerospace/military delivery windows.
- CNC & CAM Optimization: Develop and refine CNC programs (Lathes/Mills) using CAM software (Mastercam/NX/SolidWorks) to reduce cycle times and improve first-pass yield.
- Waterjet & Fabrication: Lead the optimization of waterjet cutting processes, including nesting strategies to maximize material utilization and minimize prep time for secondary forging operations.
- Throughput Leadership: Identify bottlenecks in the machine shop and implement immediate technical solutions (tooling changes, fixture improvements, or sub-routine updates).
- Continuous Improvement: Partner with the Plant Manager to drive improvement initiatives, specifically focused on reducing operational times in the CNC department.
- Tooling & Fixturing: Support Design Engineering with specialized work holding on complex forged geometries.
Required Qualifications
- Experience: 2–5 years of progressive experience in a CNC manufacturing environment
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in CAD/CAM software and a deep understanding of G-code. Experience with Waterjet operation is a significant plus.
- Educational Background: B.S. in Mechanical, Industrial, or Manufacturing Engineering (or equivalent hands-on experience).
- Mindset: A "bias for action." Ability to troubleshoot a machine issue at 7:00 AM and pivot to a planning meeting by 8:00 AM.
- Industry Standards: Familiarity with AS9100 or NADCAP requirements is highly desirable.
