Manufacturing Engineer II - BE-4 Final Assembly
About the role
This role is part of Blue Origin Operations, which includes Integrated Supply Chain, Test Operations, Safety, Quality, and Mission Assurance. It involves Manufacturing and Supply Chain support across all Blue Origin facilities.
Responsibilities
- Contribute to design for manufacturability (DFM), design for assembly (DFA), design for test (DFT)
- Translate engineering requirements into robust, repeatable manufacturing processes
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to streamline operations, reduce costs, and enhance production timelines
- Leverage advanced technologies and methodologies to improve manufacturing techniques
- Support root cause analysis of process or product non-conformances; develop and implement corrective actions
- Ensure all work aligns with applicable quality and safety standards (AS9100, ISO 9001)
- Participate in process FMEAs, risk assessments, and validation of new production lines and equipment
- Apply emerging AI technologies alongside traditional manufacturing engineering tools to optimize processes, reduce cycle times, and improve first-time quality
- Team Focus & Domain Expertise: Engines manufacturing team provides propulsion solutions for internal and external programs. Huntsville Engine Factory builds and tests engines for New Glenn vehicles using advanced machining and fabrication equipment.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Electrical, or Aerospace Engineering (or equivalent)
- 3+ years Level 2 Manufacturing Engineer, 5+ years Level 3 Manufacturing Engineer, 8+ years Sr Manufacturing Engineer experience
- Experience in high-rate assembly lines for aerospace and/or automotive
- Experience with machining, assembly, welding, brazing, balancing rotating hardware, non-destructive testing, precision cleaning
- Understanding of engineering fundamentals, GD&T, tooling design and fabrication
- Organizational, project management, and presentation skills (Gantt charting, JIRA tickets, MS Project, Confluence, or similar)
- Experience working with Bill-of-materials and BOM reconciliation
Qualifications
- Must be able to work second shift and have flexibility to move shifts as needed
- Open to work extended hours if required
