About the role

The Manufacturing Engineer at Kratos will oversee the manufacture and integration of design in the most efficient and cost-effective manner. This role requires a blend of mechanical, electrical, and industrial skills to bridge the gap between manufacturing and design.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate the execution of design manufacture and integration in the most efficient and cost-effective manner
  • Evaluate, develop, and improve manufacturing methods and processes
  • Analyze and plan space requirements, workflow, and equipment layouts to ensure maximum efficiency
  • Review new and revised product engineering designs to ensure manufacturability
  • Research and create processes supporting new builds
  • Utilize data and lessons learned to optimize processes and workflow
  • Create and communicate workflows, production plans, and work instructions (including time estimates) for manufacture, integration, and testing of training simulators
  • Identify tooling, fixture, and manufacturing requirements and design or procure solutions
  • Serve as a project engineer to ensure coordination of larger projects and provide oversight of contractors
  • Liaison with technicians, suppliers, and engineers to resolve questions regarding engineering throughout the product life cycle
  • Maintain production against schedule to identify shortages and coordinate with manufacturing to create effective solutions
  • Identify root cause and develop effective corrective actions
  • Train and coach production personnel in new methods and improvements
  • Interact with leadership verbally and through presentations

Requirements

  • Follows procedures and adheres to industry standards and local regulations in relation to design, manufacture, and safety
  • Reads and understands drawings, parts lists, wire lists, wiring diagrams, schematics
  • Working knowledge of ASME Y14.5 drawing standards
  • Strong computer skills and experience with the Microsoft Office Suite
  • BS degree in engineering or relevant field (significant work experience may be substituted for education)
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a combination of manufacturing and engineering
