About the role
The Manufacturing Engineer at Fleece Performance Engineering will play a crucial role in bridging the gap between design and shop-floor execution. This position requires a strong background in mechanical, manufacturing, or industrial engineering, with 5+ years of experience in an automotive manufacturing environment.
Responsibilities
- Develop and improve manufacturing sequences, layout, tooling, and workstations using Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies.
- Create and maintain detailed Work Instructions (WIs), Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and Bills of Materials (BOMs).
- Collaborate with engineering to ensure new designs are manufacturable and lead the transition from prototype to production.
- Utilize tools such as the 5 Whys, Fishbone diagrams, and FMEA to understand root causes and eliminate recurring production bottlenecks.
- Evaluate new equipment purchases and recommend them to management based on ROI calculations.
- Lead cross-functional teams using formal problem-solving methodologies, including DMAIC for complex problems and PDCA for rapid process improvements.
- Follow all safety procedures and contribute to maintaining a clean, organized, and efficient work environment.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Industrial Engineering.
- Strong command of AutoCAD, Inventor, or SketchUp.
- Experience with ERP/MRP systems, NetSuite.
- Preferred understanding of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing).
- A "hands-on" approach with the ability to communicate effectively with both executive leadership and operators.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, meet production deadlines, and take initiative in completing tasks and solving problems.
