Responsibilities

• Plan, direct, and coordinate manufacturing processes in industrial plant by developing, evaluating, and improving manufacturing methods, utilizing knowledge of product design, materials and parts, fabrication processes, tooling and production equipment capabilities, assembly methods, and quality control standards.
• Analyze and plan work force utilization, space requirements, workflow, and designs layout of equipment and workspace for maximum efficiency.
• Confer with planning and design staff concerning product design and tooling to ensure efficient production methods.
• Confer with vendors to determine product specifications and arrange for purchase of equipment, materials, or parts, and evaluate products according to specifications and quality standards.
• Evaluate, recommend, and implement changes to current manufacturing processes by analyzing production, labor standards, and material cost, reviewing production schedules, and estimating future requirements.
• Provide design input to the New Product Development (NPD) and Design to Value (DTV) engineering teams to ensure optimal manufacturability.
• Improve manufacturing efficiency by analyzing and planning workflow, space requirements, equipment layout and establishing and implementing Design for Manufacture (DFM) plans.
• Evaluate capital equipment investments, prepare cost justifications and manage the overall implementation of capital equipment projects.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree (or foreign equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Engineering Management, or a related field.
• Two (2) years of experience in the job offered or related occupation.
• Experience in each of the following areas: Project management; Improving complex manufacturing systems; Coordinating and supporting new product introduction and department expansions; Presenting technical information; Using CAD tools; Developing and implementing standard engineering practices; and, Lean and Six Sigma manufacturing expertise.
