Manufacturing Engineer

About the role

We are currently looking for a Manufacturing Engineer to be based out of Kokomo, IN. Reporting to the Engineering Manager, this person will be responsible for the development & troubleshooting of processes and production lines related to design, material, or process.

Responsibilities

• Work as a “hands-on” Engineer developing and troubleshooting product lines as related to design, material, or process.
• Responsible for working directly with the contractor and end user to design build and gain PPAP customer acceptance by explaining and demonstrating cost reductions and operations improvements.
• Provide technical mechanical input and understanding of maintenance and operations by enhancing total preventative maintenance programs on existing machinery.
• Support the Maintenance team by helping to improve equipment reliability, reducing downtime, and optimizing maintenance processes.
• Determine product specifications, evaluating products according to specifications and quality standards to improve or implement manufacturing processes.
• Conduct time and movement studies, review and analyze processes and methods and other work measurements activities.
• Interface with the manufacturing team to prototype and build custom solutions for customers.
• Drive New Product Development by managing and contributing to projects. This will include interaction with sales and customers, review new product drawings, align and verify manufacturing capabilities, justify capital spend for necessary tooling or equipment, and provide technical support to manufacturing during production.
• Complies with federal, state, and local legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation; anticipating future legislation; advising customers on product, service, or equipment adherence to requirements; advising customers on needed actions.

Requirements

• Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or closely related field of study
• Three plus years’ experience in a manufacturing environment preferred

Qualifications

• Aptitude in AutoCAD / SolidWorks
• Ideal candidate must be self-motivated with a proven track record in product and service sales and knowledge of technology
• Excellent communication, presentation skills, and analytical skills
• Comfortable in the dynamic atmosphere of a technical organization with a rapidly expanding customer base
• Organized and analytical, able to eliminate sales obstacles through creative and adaptive approaches

Skills

• Experience in lean manufacturing
• Reliability Centered Maintenance practices
• CMMS (computerized maintenance management system) development
• Business system-based company experience is a plus
