Under the direction of the Engineering Group Leader, support the division in meeting safety, quality, and cost initiatives by examining equipment, processes, and operations to identify improvements.
Responsibilities
- Plan and implement machine and process improvements related to safety, quality, and cost.
- Conduct root-cause analysis and implement countermeasures.
- Improve and update existing General Engineering Design and Process Planning Sheets.
- Prepare spare parts based on availability and mean time between failures.
- Initiate setup and process capability studies, establishing setup conditions for ongoing capability.
- Conduct internal trial builds and external run-offs in the U.S., Japan, and other locations.
- Complete work in a timely manner to meet established divisional goals.
- Support machine recovery for difficult-to-solve issues (contingency planning).
- Interact with the design team to improve product design for lower cost and enhanced manufacturability.
- Develop process plans and capital acquisition proposals for presentation to the executive management team.
Requirements
- Ability to understand mechanical components and electrical control logic.
- Ability to apply physical science principles.
- Ability to read and comprehend 2-D blueprints of products, GD&T, and technical specifications.
- Ability to use basic CAD software for design review, plant layout, and tooling improvements.
- Ability to apply appropriate problem-solving techniques (5 Why, SPC, Six Sigma, DOE, etc.).
- Ability to understand product specifications and apply measurement techniques.
- Basic to intermediate computer skills (Microsoft Office applications and database skills).
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Preferred Qualifications
- Understanding and ability to apply Toyota Production System Principles.
- Understanding of basic manufacturing processes such as assembly, testing, roll forming, bending, metal stamping, injection molding, welding (MAG, TIG, resistance, etc.), and plastic extrusion.
- Basic understanding or programming experience with HMI/PLC logic (Mitsubishi/Omron).
- Basic 2D and 3D CAD experience (SolidWorks, AutoCAD, CATIA, etc.).

Pay
$2,500 sign-on bonus.
Schedule
- 8-hour shift: 7:30 AM – 4:30 PM
- Monday to Friday
Ability to commute or relocate to Seymour, IN 47274 required. Reliable commute or planning to relocate before starting work (preferred). In-person work location.
