About the role

The Manufacturing Engineer supports continuous improvement, ensures high quality standards, and optimizes production processes in a collaborative manufacturing environment. This role leads technical projects, participates in new product introductions, and drives process improvements and equipment optimization initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Develop clear and detailed manufacturing assembly work instructions, guides, and procedures to ensure consistent and efficient production.
  • Promote and apply Lean methodologies and tools such as Kaizen, Kanban, 5S, poke-yoke, and value stream mapping to improve processes and workflows.
  • Drive process improvements in operations to reduce scrap, rework, and non-value-added activities.
  • Use data analysis and manufacturing engineering principles to identify and implement opportunities for efficiency, cost reduction, and quality enhancement.
  • Ensure complete and accurate documentation for tooling, fixtures, and equipment used in manufacturing processes.
  • Support the disposition and root cause analysis of component and assembly failures, and implement corrective and preventive actions.
  • Implement engineering change orders through the management of change system to ensure controlled and traceable updates to processes and documentation.
  • Collaborate with automation engineering, controls engineering, and equipment integration teams to support the introduction and optimization of automated systems.
  • Participate in new product introduction activities by supporting process development, validation, and transition into full-scale manufacturing.
  • Work closely with operations, quality, maintenance, R&D, and other stakeholders to implement sustainable manufacturing solutions.
  • Lead or support technical projects focused on continuous improvement and manufacturing excellence.

Essential Skills

  • Proven track record of troubleshooting and resolving manufacturing issues in a production environment.
  • Experience in process improvement and application of Lean methodologies such as Kaizen, Kanban, 5S, poke-yoke, and value stream mapping.
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting capabilities, including the ability to use data-driven approaches for problem solving.
  • Manufacturing engineering experience, including development of assembly work instructions, guides, and procedures.
  • Data analysis skills to evaluate process performance, identify trends, and support decision-making.
  • Experience using CAD software to support manufacturing engineering activities.
  • Ability to implement engineering change orders through a formal management of change system.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Exposure to automation, controls, or equipment integration in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams such as operations, quality, maintenance, and R&D.
  • Familiarity with documentation practices for tooling, fixtures, and manufacturing equipment.
  • Experience participating in or supporting new product introductions and process optimization initiatives.
  • Understanding of continuous improvement principles and manufacturing best practices.

Work Environment

The role operates in a manufacturing environment where the Manufacturing Engineer collaborates closely with operations, quality, maintenance, R&D, automation engineering, controls engineering, and equipment integration teams. The work involves frequent interaction with production lines, tooling, fixtures, and manufacturing equipment, as well as the use of CAD software and data analysis tools to support process optimization. The position typically follows standard full-time working hours, with flexibility as needed to support production activities and technical projects. The environment emphasizes continuous improvement, lean practices, and cross-functional teamwork to deliver high-quality products efficiently.

This is a Contract position based out of Stafford, CT.

Pay And Benefits

The pay range for this position is $23.00 - $55.00/hr.
