  • Develop tooling and facilities based on product and process.
  • Apply lean manufacturing principles.
  • Lead virtual manufacturing assembly builds.
  • Specify welding/adhesive/sealing conditions, joining strategies, tooling needs, and forming parameters.
  • Drive resolution of manufacturing issues.
  • Interface with Design and Release activities.
  • Develop formal assembly process instructions and enter the process sheets into VPS system.
  • Lead assembly tooling specification, purchase, installation, start-up, and commissioning at the assembly site.
  • Track all open tooling and process issues and drive to closure, including meeting all exit criteria deliverables (cycle time, throughput, workstation readiness, etc.).
  • Prepare management presentations.
  • Define inspection strategies and control plans (e.g., CMM checks, go/no-go, gauging strategy).
  • Drive quality, cost, and labor improvements.
  • Support new model launches, including extensive travel, standing, and walking in a plant environment.
  • Evaluate vendor process capability for body components and subassemblies.
  • Work with fixtures, jigs, and datum strategies to ensure repeatable fit and finish.
  • Analyze stack-ups and tolerance risks.
  • Conduct trials, debug issues, and help transition process from engineering to production.
  • Deliver dimensionally in-spec parts for their respective system and understand component data and system impact.
  • Deliver cycle line layouts and work with assembly plants to ensure a complete operator/equipment workstation is ready for launch.
  • Operate in stressful situations within timing constraints.
  • Work with minimal direct supervision.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Engineering in Electrical, Mechanical, Industrial, or related fields.
  • Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in manufacturing.
  • Willingness to travel and support launch activities at North American assembly plants (USA, Canada & Mexico).
  • Travel is required, including co-location at a North American assembly plant for 9 or more months depending on the scale of the vehicle launch (Michigan Assembly Plant).
  • 2 or more years of Microsoft Office experience (Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with virtual manufacturing tools.
  • Solid understanding of vehicle body construction (materials, structures, joints, components, strengths, safety, durability, and proper function).
  • Experience with tooling, process, quality, and/or facility equipment in a production environment.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Working knowledge of statistics (control charts, data collecting, etc.).

Pay

The pay range for this position is $37.00 - $50.00/hr. Individual compensation offered within this range will depend on qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, and internal equity.
