Manufacturing Engineer
Actalent is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to collaborate with engineering, production, and procurement teams to enhance production processes, ensuring designs are manufacturable, cost-effective, and aligned with quality standards.
About the role
This position involves developing a strategic overview of all product lines to maintain and improve production flow, product quality, and operational safety. The Manufacturing Engineer will provide direction to others, drive continuous improvement initiatives, and support a culture of operational excellence.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with engineering, production, and procurement teams to improve production processes and ensure manufacturability and cost-effectiveness of designs.
- Develop and maintain a strategic overview of all product lines to support efficient production flow and consistent product quality.
- Oversee activities in the manufacturing area to drive improvements in productivity, product quality, and safe operations.
- Implement and support continuous improvement initiatives using Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies.
- Lead or contribute to corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) to address production issues and prevent recurrence.
- Create, update, and maintain clear and accurate work instructions to support standardized manufacturing processes.
- Support and optimize machining and fabrication processes within a fabrication machine shop environment.
- Utilize ERP systems to support production planning, control, and process improvement activities.
- Use MS Office tools, including Microsoft Project, to plan, track, and communicate project and process improvement activities.
- Provide direction and guidance to production and support personnel to ensure adherence to processes and quality standards.
- Monitor and analyze manufacturing performance metrics to identify opportunities for process improvement and cost reduction.
- Contribute to maintaining a safe working environment by promoting safe operating practices and addressing safety concerns in the manufacturing area.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science (BS) in Mechanical Engineering or BS in Engineering.
- 2+ years of experience with Lean Manufacturing and/or Six Sigma.
- 2+ years of experience in a production or manufacturing environment.
- Experience working in a machining and fabrication environment.
- Experience with CAPA (Corrective and Preventive Actions).
- Experience developing and working with work instructions in a manufacturing setting.
- Practical experience using ERP systems within a production environment.
- Proficiency with the MS Office suite, including Microsoft Project.
- Ability to work on and lead continuous improvement projects.
- Ability to provide clear direction to others in a manufacturing environment.
- Strong understanding of engineering practices, production control processes, and manufacturing methods.
Work Environment
The Manufacturing Engineer will work within an engineering organization of approximately 25 people, including teams focused on production, manufacturing engineering, and electrical engineering. The role is based in a production and machining/fabrication environment that utilizes ERP systems, Lean Manufacturing practices, and Six Sigma methodologies. Daily work involves close interaction with cross-functional teams on the shop floor and in an office setting.
Pay
The pay range for this position is $90,000.00 - $110,000.00 per year. Individual compensation offered within this range will depend on qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
